When they had those stars they did * all though. They have the building blocks of a good team this time, which makes the difference in my opinion.

They need a good manager though, someone who can get them working as a team and who basically isn't a 70 year old guy who's only real claim to management notoriety aside from a * stint at Liverpool was a two year period at Inter 20 odd years ago.

I've not seen much of them, but I've never rated Hodgson as the England manager. Seems a bit clueless to me.

Classic example of someone who's solid in the EPL (was it Fulham?) so everyone thinks he must be a World Class manager.

As soon as Manchester City announced that Pep was coming in I'd have been right on the phone to Pellegrini looking to have him take over for the Championships, or at the very least take over afterwards.

So swap one 60+ year old guy for another because one has won a Premiership with the biggest budget and the other hasn't? :56:

It'll be interesting to see which manager they get next. There's a lack of quality English managers at the moment. The best is probably Sam Allardyce or Eddie Howe.

    Pretty bleak really.

He's also a better manager than Hodgson, as you well know. Copa Mercosur & Clausura winner with San Lorenzo, Clausura winner with River Plate, took Villareal to 3rd in La Liga, as well as the semi-finals of the Champions League, took Malaga to their highest ever league position and the Champions League quarter-finals, and won the league with City.

You can't even begin to compare the two of them.

You're doing the comparing. I'm just pointing out your flawed argument. I can wiki his honours list as well.

Pellegrini isn't the answer to England's problems.

None of their big players ever seem to go into management.

Only few I can think of all had short stints where they made a * of themselves like Sheringham, Shearer, Tony Adams, Gary Neville but they didnt even seem to want to be managers, they never retired and went into coaching etc they all just went into managers jobs out the blue and were shocking.

I've seen a few folk on here saying that Kyle Walker is crap. I can't agree. I think he's a really good player. Him and Danny Rose were both excellent tonight.

I think England was extremely unlucky tonight, any other day we would have won that by a big margin.

No worries about the other two games on that performance.

Been really impressed with England so far. Working as a team, lots of pace, energy and enthusiasm going forward. Aside from the violence, inside the ground, the England supporters have been absolutely immense.

It's looking very positive indeed for the English. Would like to see them bit a tad more clinical in the final third and they could very well be crowned victorious this year.

The US is so, so close to getting rid of Klinsmann. Please England, don't start wondering why the USSF President is refusing to get in the way of his talks and the fact that this is the best news American fans have heard in years.
