JOHN GUIDETTI last night insisted he’s prepared to wait six months to make his Celtic move happen in January. The Swedish striker is still awaiting news from FIFA on his proposed switch to Parkhead.

Guidetti was lined up for a loan from Manchester City but failure to get the paperwork completed before 11pm on deadline day left the deal in limbo. The SFA have taken up Celtic’s case with FIFA in a bid to clear the 22-year-old’s move to Glasgow. And John Collins has revealed the Bhoys are still eager to land their man .

But Guidetti, training yesterday in Halmstads with Sweden’s Under-21 side, indicated he is willing to wait to get into the Hoops. He said: “If it happens fantastic and if it doesn’t, I still belong to a great club in Manchester where I will fight for a place. I’ll still train with the best players in the world and constantly evolve. “That is a major thing because I’m still a very young player. “When we play two 30-minute games in training it’s as if two Champions League teams are facing each other. “Worse things have happened in my life than this and you have to have perspective. “There is war in the world so there is no reason to feel pity for me in this situation. “The talks were concluded on time but I don’t know if they had time to submit the papers. “There is much to be done which is out of my hands. I just sign a pieces of paper and play football. “It’s sad, of course, but sometimes there is nothing you can do. “I feel in great shape as it’s been great to get a long pre-season with City. But I miss getting to play games, it’s what I live for. “There is nothing to beat scoring in front of 50,000 fans. “When my time comes I’ve made sure I’ll be ready for it.
“I love playing football and I will continue to do so and, if I have to wait another six months to do it, so be it. “I cannot just give up so if it is six months I’ll just accept it.”

Guidetti has had an unlucky time of it lately. As well as missing the deadline to play in the Europa League he had his car stolen. But the striker is just delighted he still has a chance of heading to Glasgow having believed the dream was over on Tuesday morning. Guidetti added: “The move looked to have gone to pieces but now the club has enabled the SFA to take up the matter with FIFA in the hope an exception can be made. “Celtic felt good and it was the only club for me. The fans are very passionate and it would be nice if the deal went through.”

Celtic want him in place alongside Stefan Scepovic in attack as Ronny Deila continues the rebuilding of the Parkhead squad.

Guidetti may be down the pecking order at the Etihad Stadium and he may have struggled during a short spell at Stoke last season but an impressive spell at Feyenoord and his high rating has convinced the Celtic fans he could be a major asset to the side if FIFA come up trumps.

However, last night a Swedish FA transfer administrator cast doubt on the player getting to Parkhead in the next days.

Joakim Lindstrom, who is in charge of deals for the country’s governing body, believes the situation could be compromised due to the fact it’s a loan.

Lindstrom said: “In a loan procedure Celtic would upload all their documents then Manchester City would match those documents and then you can move on in the transfer market. “It may be that Celtic, for example, put up a certain amount and City another amount or that there were different dates. “FIFA has a system called FIFA TMS which is used through all international deals. “If John is going from England to Scotland as Celtic have put up this transfer, all must be changed before the window closes. I bet that is where they failed. “Then it’s about FIFA and dispensation. “Most often they look at the contract situation. If it’s a loan it becomes a little more difficult than if it was a permanent transfer. It can be harder to get through.”

:celt_2: Could still happen. Celtic "I hear" want him in for Europa, this is the debate with FIFA/UEFA I was told and read between the lines. Again, could be crap, probably is, but till we know it's all guesswork, from us all.

January will do me nicely - by then we will know what's what with the 3 current main strikers. We will be through to the last 32 of Europa, and signing this guy will add that little bit something else to the front line to go through to the last 16 and who knows.
Also gives him the time to settle for the qualifiers, and hopefully him and Scepovic have formed a good partnership up front.

That's a pretty good source. He obviously gets to hear a lot of chat and gets to talk to the player.

Certainly a lot better than a receptionist at rosshall saying celtic have booked a medical.

Aye its no the worst is it.. he tells my aunt alot as shes a diehard, box n all that each year and she spills the beans to me :smiley-laughing002:

fyi rosshall is getting scrapped as well.. new place for medicals is up for discussion. The word is they dont belive the standard for finding injuries is of high enough standard anymore but are still contracted to them for the forseable untill another suitor is provided.

Great news if true. I'm really excited about this, more so than any other signing I can remember even Robbie keane. It just seems that this guy wants to be here playing for us. Can see him hitting a load of goals aswell. Hopefully the loan goes through soon and we then get a permanent deal sorted. The minute it goes through il be getting the white shirt with guidetti on back. Be great to get the no.7 back out aswell :celt_2: :icon_mrgreen:

Why does everyone keep saying six months when January is only 4 months away?

The bit that said "I was told"

Who told you? That will determine whether you have a source or your cat told you. I'm going with the *. :bbpd:

Has there ever been a case in the past when a player has signed for a club 3 days or more after the transfer window has closed? Apart from free agents of course.

Can't think of one. The part I can't figure is that UEFA have him as a celtic player or did at any rate. Did Celtic pre-empt this and register him in case? Although I read somewhere that Collins said he can't play Europa.

If the rumours are true, apparently John Guidetti puts the ball in the netty.
