C'mon this is a joke why has it took so long? Not even a hint as to when a decision will be made

If City are so eager to get him off the wage bill and the guy is itching to leave then surely it's common sense to scrap the loan move, negotiate his release and we'll sign him on a one year contract. Everyone wins, or am I missing something?

Unfortunately he would have needed to be released while the window was open to allow us to sign him on a free, or so I hear.

So we know for a fact that was never an option to loan Guidetti right up until the last minute?

    Is that gospel?

Anyway, whatever the facts were, I am glad we 'tried' and hope that FIFA come through for us, it would be a real boost that the fans need.

Im hitting refresh every 5 mins but apparently there's no set time line for the decision to be made by from FIFA.

Nobody knows this for certain other than Man City. As I said yesterday, they wouldn't have got a big fee for him anyway, as he has hardly played in recent times, and is in the final year of his contract. So what they would have probably got for him, would have been similar to what Sheikh Mansour caries about in his back pocket. I don't think they would have been overly fussed if I'm honest.

I don't understand the reasoning behind people saying Man City were taking their time over this. It was them that accepted the loan bid in the first place, if they didn't want it to go through, they would have just knocked us back. It makes no sense whatsoever for them to stall on this, after accepting our offer.

Not taking there time, just wanting to offload him for a fee, hence only becoming available late on.

Apparently the paperwork delay was on their side though, as he was still registered as a Stoke player.

Seems like your trying to find fault with the board mate.

There's been a lot of * posted in this thread but to answer your question so you don't need to scroll through. The fault was at Man City's end, The SFA sent the necessary paperwork through but FIFA came back and said they still had him down as a Stoke player, Man City then had to confirm he wasn't. They where slow in uploading their paperwork hence going over the deadline.

They got side tracked by Yaya Toure's demands for a full size bouncy castle Taj Mahal.

Did he only become available at 8pm roughly, nobody really knows this. Or have Man City said they wanted a fee? If they have, then I'll concede mate, but I just haven't read it anywhere.

My biggest annoyance is that we didn't make a move sooner. I've explained my reasoning behind this. I know you think he only become available very late in the window, I disagree. However, if Man City have said they were looking to sell him, then I would be happy to concede.

What I will say however, is that I certainly don't think we had a plan B. Once Scepovic had turned us down, we didn't have a back up option in my opinion, hence why we ended up trying to bring in Guidetti with only a few hours remaining. We had all summer to pick out potential targets, and in my opinion, we ended up with one player, and that was Scepovic, and if we are being honest, he would rather be elsewhere.

I'm guessing before then if he travelled from Manchester to get to Glasgow for 6pm :icon_mrgreen:

Not any evidence for this, just going by the way Man City were working deals this year, they certainly done that with Negredo and Micah Richards.

Can't really disagree with any of that.

As far as I'm aware Man City just told him to find another club and there was a lot of interest from Italy and Holland, 2.5-4 million was being spoke about. So I reckon although it is a paltry sum to them I still think they would have preffered to sell him rather than loan or release him. I reckon we swooped in when there wasn't anything concrete from other clubs.

I thought he arrived at 8. We will say he became available at 7 :smiley-laughing002:

One thing I will say, even though we all know he would really be plying his trade somewhere else, it's a good job Scepovic got signed, or we were getting nobody.

Fair enough mate. It's a matter of opinion on this, as nobody really knows fore certain, apart from Man City to be fair.

Man City were holding out for a transfer fee.

On deadline day they decided to let him go out on loan.

They did all the paperwork, as did celtic and the SFA.

However, the SFA noticed that somewhere it said JG was still registered to Stoke on loan.

It took Man City a while to find the document that proved his loan had finished.

They sent it up as soon as they found it.

As soon as it was received, Celtic/SFA began uploading the documents on the FIFA online system. They just missed the deadline and got rejected by an automated system.

So 'technically' FIFA rejected the transfer, in as much as the online system has. SFA and Celtic are now (we believe) appealing in person. This seems to be taking a long time, we assume, (because thats all we can do) that this is down to FIFA being fairly busy right now.

On the balance of probabilities, this should go through as we have shown we were abiding by the rules, and were scuppered by a snag with old paperwork.

The stress is from the radio silence all round.

Throughout the whole ordeal though, no-one, Celtic, City, SFA, Fifa has done anything wrong - except perhaps Celtic for not just giving us something rather than leaving us hanging.

And so we wait. Simple as.

Seen today apprabtly we are going to appeal to UEFA as well if we sign him so he can play in the group stages as well
