Not at all, i'm simply stating the facts. We have spent consistently over the years, that cannot be disputed.

Okay. But as you yourself concede, we haven't spent effectively.

Who should we blame for that? Should we blame anyone, or is it just a poor market?

    See the John Park thread.

Of course he had to spend some money, but that is not the issue. It is not the total amount of money that is interesting but the fact that we went for a non goal scorer reject from Schalke for 2.5 instead on pushing the boat for Finnbogason. There is no ambition in signing a striker who doesn't score to replace our top scorer.
And if we had replaced Hooper in first place, we might not have needed to bring in Griffiths or Fridjonsson.

Buying cheap and hoping to strike gold. A risky strategy that came back and bit him in the *.

    Spend peanuts - get monkeys.

Except we've not even spent peanuts this year - we've loaned monkeys off other peoples zoos.

    What a * window.

The transfer profit over the last three years does not back this up.

    Exactly.

Of course - any signing is a risk. It's probably better to spread your risk £5.5m on a handful of lesser talents and hope that you'll luck out than to spluff £5.5m on an erratic primadonna.

    But still.

Agreed. We have signed an incredible amount of duds over the past couple of seasons and it is one of the main reasons we are struggling just now.

For signings in the past few years we have to hold Lennon & Park accountable I'm afraid.

    We were never getting Finnbogason.

We showed interest initially but when clubs with more resources got involved we were out of that particular race i'm afraid.

The signing of Pukki rests completely on the shoulders of Lennon and Park.

    He's injured.

However I've heard he's requested a transfer out of Norwich and it's not like we've not already signed an injured player; and from the board's point of view, Hooper would bring the fans back on-side. If we just loaned him in (a permanent deal's a non-starter IMO) there'd be scope to negotiate with the percentage of wages we pay.

    Get it done!!!

Although there are inherent risks you can normally factor those out, a player that has predominately been a success will continue to do so, I know we can all quote factors here Torres/Chelsea etc but 9 outta 10 you'll get your monies worth from a star signing.
