Like signings we've had good and bad ones. Imo it's not the way to build a team, we would then be starting again year after year.

Bad: Tonev, Wakaso, Berget, Guidetti, (debatable), Miku, El Kaddouri, Bradfheid, Kamara (I actually quite liked him), n'guemo, Brozek etc

Good: Denayer, Keane, Bellamy, Samaras, Forster

There's probably many many more I've forgotten; that's just off the top of my head. The only one we actually signed that I can think of is Sammy.

I'd rather we used our money wisely and bought players in order to build a team around, rather than having to build again year after year tbh.

    Dont forget our last keeper.
Loans do have the risk of them just * off and using us as nothing more than a shop window.
But is that any worse that paying money up front and then being stuck with them for 3 or 4 years....fortune/derk...ect ect.

I think now we are a buy em young club we are always going to be runing round trying to plug the hole of players just left.
We need to start letting the odd player run down their contract....ok we lose some money but it give the club more time to find replacement....maybe 1 in 4 gets told...your here till the end of your contract.

P.S...loans or free players would let us pay more in wages and might attract some better players.

I wonder if we'll ever make another blue chip signing like Thomas Graversen or Juninho. Haha, those were the evenings. Tuning into BBC radio Scotland and Scotsport SPL.

Your maybe right there to an extent, I should edit that to debatable, as he wasn't good either having only performed for less than half a season imo.

I think Lawwell will be rushing to get Van Dijk out the door now that we've failed to get to CL groups.

I'm hoping we get a replacement, plus a left back and big striker.

I'd like more, but realistically I can see a cheap replacement for Van Dijk and that'll be it.

I'd happily see us keep buying young lads for low cost and loaning in more expensive players on higher wages for skills and experience. We coikd never afford to buy those guys in this day and age, so let them 'use us' to reestablish themselves and we'll replaceme them like for like, and we'll keep/profit from the potentials. It's our only way to fly right now if we want low risk success

As to what I expect... VVD and Stokes sold, scep loaned. Bid for Bitton rejected - to please the fans. Replacement for VVD bought in (£3m tops), maybe a lb (50/50 chance £2m tops) and a loan winger/striker - quite possibly that barker fella? He's a winger isn't he?

Your lucky if we spend a * dime & that's after big Virgils sold btw. Board are greedy *. Big jock will be turning in his * grave.. Were that greedy. We will not advance on what we have.we will buy or loan a player that's from Man city youth for roughly 250k and Lawwell will come out and say it's a ( Massive ) Signing it's literally depressing. Gets worse every year.

I'm expecting VVD to be sold if anyone is daft enough to give us the boards valuation, which I suspect will be in the £7-10 million mark, Replacement probably already in mind but will be a cheap option £2 million maybe and a young player.

LB is badly needed and hope to * we get one in. Again though won't be any big name signing and most likely a loan player.

Can't see us bringing in anyone of known quality for the much needed strikers role unless Stokes and Scep are let go.

    All seems a bit quiet.

I thought at the very least Van Dijk would have gone by now. We are cutting it fine, as per.

    I wanted to keep him.

    * has some fire in his belly and is a bit cocky. I like that in players.

He was also someone who I believed could be made into a good European striker for us.

Whatever deals we had lined up are scraped now that we haven't qualified. Expect us looking well down on our list of targets.
We should really be splashing out on quality now though, tell players that "yeah, we didn't qualify this year but we are investing heavily now so that next year we will have a CL ready squad. Come to us, help us go far in the EL and next year we will have CL football."

If players see that we are ambitious they are more likely to come.
Can't see it happening though, the same cycle will continue. :31:

I was actually thinking earlier in the window that we might sign him,noy on loan though. A deal here really wouldn't surprise me. Not sure whether we could get the best out of that deal or not...
