Can't be a coincidence, him and Lenny were obviously a defensively-minded partnership and I think were underrated tactically. Last year certainly they realised our strikers were utter guff and so had to focus on making us solid, boring and reliable at the back.

Was he ever in frame to take over from Lennon?

We probably do miss him, although managers should be able to sort out a capable enough defence. It is arguably the most important tactical issue a manager must deal with.

Ronnie was a CB for crying out loud albeit a * one but still you would think he would have had some influence?

Doesn't always work like that though, I think it was clear to see that Mjallby worked well with the defence for the time he was here, Ronny might not be al that defensive minded, despite being a centre back. He certainly wasn't a centre back in Mjallbys class.

Any time they got the ball near our goal we was a * shambles.
We went into full panic mode leading to their goal.

    All about the collective
Our defence had 4 good individual players at the start of the season that could work together to the required level but now its just 2 good players 1 decent player and an efe thry look like there playing together for the first time every game.

    Interesting Johan Mjallby interview.....

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...tml?ITO=1490&ns_mchannel=rss&ns_campaign=1490

Apologies for the link to that scum rag but folk will want to read the interview no doubt.

    Very interesting stuff from Mjallby.

    • He did resign because of a lack of investment in players
    • He knew we would struggle to qualify this year
    • Henrik Larsson was offered the manager's job
    • Larsson turned it down after speaking to Mjallby and Lennon

So there we have it. It's finally out in the open. Mjallby left the club because of the board's unwillingness to invest in players. I think it is safe to assume that Neil Lennon left for the same reason(like I've said all along).

It is also now blindingly obvious that Ronny Deila was 3rd choice(at best!) for the Celtic manager's job. Larsson and Keane were both offered it before him. What a ringing endorsement of Ronny Deila that is. I think we can boil it down to this - neither Larsson or Keane would accept the board hoarding money at the expense of the first team but Ronny Deila would. That's why Deila is here and Larsson or Keane aren't.

What a shambles. * the board.

Not surprised to be honest. I knew something wasn't right when Majalby left.

I didn't want Larsson to get the job either but it says a lot about how the club is being run that a man who is a legend here and who is managing in the Swedish league wouldn't even take the job after speaking to Mjallby and Lennon.

Didn't Mjallby say originally he was leaving because he wanted to broaden his horizon and go for a manager's job?

Yeah I'm not surprised by any of that there, think it's obvious to everyone how Peter Profit operates, * shocking.

maybe he thought the job is too big for him at this stage of his career.

There may have been an element of that although if that was the real reason for him turning the job down then there wasn't really any need for him to speak to Mjallby and Lennon about how things were at the club. I'd say the fact he spoke to both of them then decided it wasn't for him is pretty significant.
