But we couldnt afford to spend all the transfer income back out, especially as the wage-bill increased as it is last season, thats without spending another £6/7million and adding to it even more.

The major problem fans have about signings. Is that they turned out not good enough on the whole. But money was spent and the wagebill increased from what it was last season.

I think some of our fans are under the illusion that if a player signed wasnt as good or better than the one that he replaced then money wasnt spent/wagebill was decreased etc when it actually doesnt.

To cover the additional bonuses, allow new contracts, allow higher spending in the transfer market etc as happened. Then when you increase the wage-bill you need to leave over money to cover it the following years.

Under Lennon we on average spent £9million a season on players. Which was the exact same as under Strachan £9million a season and slightly more than under O'Neill £8.8million a season.

Perhaps you could also compare sales to purchases. Selling £20m of talent and being given £10 to replace is not an easy task.

Hard to believe much of the CL money goes on contracts when we seem to prefer to sell our better players rather than offer them more money.

If the CL money was to "allow higher spending in the transfer market"then what did we do with money received for players?

people made these same complaints and claims after mowbray. Then lennon was brought in and we had success and everybody loved pete. now we're at a low ebb again and the knives are out.

Call me a mug but I can see the point in what he's said in that interview about how we have spent money and have achieved success. I also get his point about all the loan deals and don't necessarily disagree with his policy.

    However he still irks me.

Am I the only one that gets the feeling that he's trying to deflect some of the blame onto Ronny Deila? And no I'm not talking about on-the-pitch results here, I'm on about the signing policy.

He said that there's been money available for him to spend but Ronny's been reluctant. However this is in direct contrast to Ronny's digs the media after defeats about how the squad isn't good enough and how he needs players in. I tend to side with Ronny on this one.

I also came out of the interview feeling that he didn't answer the question about why we didn't strengthen prior to the final qualifier when we knew we'd been * against Legia and have very obviously been on the decline for over a year having lost most of our best players without replacing them, which is what people are really * about.

Peter Lawwell finally ='s transparency (video interview)

seems like he and the board had no other choice. He could have came out earlier and explained everything from his/business side of things.

it was a well rehearsed interview but he seemed to answer everyone of our worries/questions on why were not spending * loads of money, how even though we dont need rangers for our club to succeed, it brings the level of competition and interest in the league which makes ticket sales flourish, there for we have to depend on selling players for huge profits to keep progressing. If the league progresses and more attraction is involved, more money will flood into Scottish football.

anyway I thought he answered all the questions correctly and its basically what I've been trying to say on here for a while. From a business perspective, were in * creek with one paddle covered in *.

Actually think Lawell spoke a lot of sense to be fair and I was critical of the board myself hopefully we see some new players coming in and the team looking better.

c'mon, even from a biased view, you must admit it all perfectly makes sense.

I understand evercunt n their granny hates the * ryt now, I was/still kinda mad at him & I was always on here defending his actions from an official perspective. Kinda like, well what if I was in his position. We dont know what its like in his position. I can imagine it costs a pretty penny to keep this club up & running every season where alot of our players were on high wage packets. We need to rake that * into consideration when talking about signing a player. Yeah he might only be 2-3 million but we never actually know what wage bills these guys are on. All we know is what the daily record guesses the amount we bought them for.

just like any big business it takes alot to run it and you need to be very careful.

he has a point about loan with the possibility of signing them. Wish we did it with balde or others of that nature.

Personally, I found it a very genuine and inspiring interview. What he says makes total sense and it was refreshing to see him get behind Deila. Too many people overreacting to our defeats in qualifiers, which also happened to Strachan and Lennon and look what they went on to do.

padmill you seem like a smart guy (when your not being a smart *) :56:jk

but even you must hear that and understand where the club is coming from.

what I got out of this is that our club need to be more transparent with us as the fans and explain himself more rather than just build up anger and devide amongst the fans.

I'm still kinda raging its took this long to just let the fans know what's going on. We need this type of * more often!

Fans being taken in again by this compulsive liar I see. The sooner he is gone from this club, the better.
