Yup. Deila doesn't know the position of his players. In HT, I'd have put Mulgrew at LB and introduced a CB(Denayer) instead of Twardzik. Never Johansen at LB. Then again, I wouldn't play Twardzik in defense, but in midfield.

You've deduced that from two games. Congratulations. Celtic need to get you signed up to the old scouting network.

Twardzik is a cm, so I don't agree with the stick he is getting. Thought Henderson had a good game today. Don't agree with the stick Commons is getting recently most our chances came through him, but he shouldn't be playing as a lone striker. But Inverness were lucky with their goal and we should have won. Thought Ronny was wise in resting players however I wasn't expecting 10 changes but I think we will notice the benefits on Tuesday. Believe in Ronny!

But then there is sacrificing the experienced figure of Mulgrew, who was undoubtedly talking O'Connell through the match at centre back, for Denayer, who would be making just his 3rd senior professional appearance. So it was always a tough decision. If Matthews was fit, he'd have played left back.

    *.Them OGs are a *.

Was optimistic before the match, and as an optimist,I'm going to focus on the positives from today.

    Efe was outstanding,as was Mulgrew.

But I think we can all agree that given our lineup today,ICT were not a priority game for us at all. Wether this choice came from Ronny ( which I highly doubt ) or from higher up with regards to Tuesdays season decider against Maribor,we were unlucky in a close game of football.

Let the highland huns celebrate now,but this is the highlight of their season. Our next match is in the Champions League

Hail Hail to the Travelling support once again - fine support all match up at Inverness :^D

You think Denayer is currently good enough for the group stages of the CL?

Bearing in mind he's been bullied off the ball by * Nadir Ciftci?

I'm not being negative to the boy, he's been fantastic so far given his inexperience, but you are way out if you think he is any where near good enough CURRENTLY to play against the likes of Balotelli, Suarez and Benzema. He will get ragdolled. I like him, he's very promising, but come on to *.

I'm not going to worry too much about this result, Tuesday is far more important in the grand scheme. I think Ronny was using this to see his fringe players in a competitive match and see who is worth keeping and who to bin/loan out before the transfer window closes. I have no problems with that to be honest.

Charlie Christie (Inverness) and Chris Sutton summed it up perfectly on BT Sport.

Christie - We know Celtic don't have a Big hit man, so we know they will play it through the middle and we can set up for that.

Sutton - Agree. Stokes plays central but isn't going to grow a few inches
It's all very well having a system you want to play but if you don't have the players then it comes to nothing. Commons is Celtic's best player so they should find a position for him.

We were fortunate in Perth and got found out today. Even though we made a lot of changes, Christie's comments about how we play is a fact and whether we play in CL or Europa can see Ronny spreading the workload throughout the Squad, which could make team selections like today not unusual. 8 days to go in Transfer Window. Time enough for departures and players in.

Come on to * though. Of all the criticisms you can level at a manager, not knowing his players' positions is the most feeble. :smiley-laughing002:

He has persisted with his ideals rather than adapting to the playing staff he has currently.

I think you'd make a better manager than Deila, Vert.

It's not as if Mulgrew couldn't give tips during the periods when play is stopped. Or option 2: play 3 at the back, move Twardzik into left midfield. I think he's a CM/LM, never LB. But I bet Deila would puke at the suggestion of 3-5-2.

He was alright. He's had much better games and come under fire for them though. Gave the ball away cheaply a couple of times but he made a few good challenges. One of my favourite players.

No idea how you came to the conclusion that Mulgrew was one of our best players.
