How am I overrating his reputation? He earned himself a move to one of the richest clubs in the world, with some of the best players in the world on their books, before he'd even played a senior game or became a fully fledged international for a very good international side at 19.

With his game being talked up by his national coach and winning Young Player of the Year, albeit it in Scotland, with him playing well in Europe, with us trying to build a reputation for a place to watch for up and coming players?

No, definitely not overestimating his reputation.

The John Guidetti situation is in no way similar to Jason Denayer.

Bring back Denayer for a season, partner him with Boyata and bank 10 mill for VVD.

Would be the best scenario for Celtic at the minute.

If we couldn't afford jg then we sure as * can't afford Denayer.

JG didnt want to sign...so whats the point trying to sign someone else that does not want to sign.

We could afford John Guidetti though, so completely different situation. There's a difference between being able to afford and not spending money.

I don't think we could, mainly because paying one guy that much money would have lead to all sorts of trouble and wage increase demands from the rest of the team.

I agree that we should get him but i disagree with the method. If we loan him again with his contract running out in the summer then we are in a similar position as we were with Gudetti only our position is weaker this time. I think if we want to sign him outright it has to be before then.

Deadline day could be the time to pounce. The player might know by this stage that he will not be a first team player at City and with all the madness that happens on that day then we could swoop right in. Possibly January aswell.

We do not want to be in a situation where he is on a bosman because our chances of getting him will be next to none. We have to pay a fee so that we are the only team negotiating with him.

This deal is a longshot but I reckon it can be done.

This is a point that always comes up. I would say that in terms of parity we have not been as equal in terms of wages in well over a decade probably more. All throughout this time we had players who earned substantially more than other players.

Balde compared to Heid and Mick didnt seem to cause much problems.

    Graveson, Donati etc

These are players who were not even in the team at the time.

If we take this attitude that we cannot give a CF x amount because Griff is on half of this then we will never grow as a club.

The amount we have trimmed of the wage bill in the last 4 years is mental. We can easily afford a few players on 30k a week if we want to.

Some people think Gudetti is not worth it, fair enough, but enough of this aul nonsense about mutiny among players because it has never happened at our club to my knowledge

So he's technically back with City now and it's a case of getting him back rather than extending?

Wonder when we will get any idea what their plans for him next season are.

Are we even in contention for this?

Don't delude yourself, we are not capable of signing Jason Denayer.

It's abundantly clear, at the age of 19, he is going to be world class.

I think Denayer only has 12 months left on his Man City deal.

If there was ever a player to make that £5/6million bid for....

If Jason wanted to move here permanently, I'm sure we'd have no hesitation about paying £5m or £6m for him. We know he's a £10m+ player.

out of our reach unless he goes on loan this year and * up or breaks his leg, then we could maybe get him next year
