    John Kennedy id say.

Even if we had to go up to 5 is there anyone out there who could say there is not value in paying this?

    I'd pay 5 for him.

This is what I've been going on about. Sometimes its absolutely worth it to break the bank. We'd more than double that in a year if he keeps progressing

I'm sure we'd push the boat out for him if he was valued at £5 mill (He wouldn't be). Problem is if it became clear he was for sale a prem team could step in and double that easily. Prices are super inflated even for bang average players down there. Denayer would be double figures tbh.

Know what I admire most about Denayer ? His honesty. None of this Bellamy pish about loving the club then * off to for the highest wages that summer. He's been completely open about why he's here, to break into Man City's team.

What are you on about. BB Rovers nabbed him and at the time the wages between us and them would have been closer. By all accounts the deal was our for 5.5 and we wouldnt pay it. I also think we were close to getting him back a few different times and it just never happened (wages more likely a factor in these later deals)

I'd push the board to pay up to £6mil and not sign anyone else this season. His resale value will be huge.

If he was at some random Belgian club then he might be 5 or 6 but not at City imo. Around the £10mil mark.

Although, remember WGS saying we were going to big £3mil for Fellaini and Everton put in a £15mil bid?

If we somehow miraculously stumped up the money for Denayer and City accepted it, considering it's a pittance to them, there's still the fact Denayer doesn't want to sign for us.

    It's not going to happen.

Says who? If he is for sale then we are favourites imo. He will start games and get CL experience. He wants to be a full international and play at the very top. A couple of seasons with us and he will be a better player for certain, if he picks another team then he could stagnate.

Agree with this. He'll never be a Celt for life, but he seems like someone who understands that he needs to concentrate on his development at this stage.

I really don't see Man City wanting to sell though.

Face it man, he will likely end up on loan at another EPL side or even a top La Liga/ Bundesliga side - progression.

Chelsea do this and then move them on for quite a good fee but I think Denayer is in City's plans.

When and where? Didn't he say he wouldn't mind another year here if he doesn't get game time at City?

He's already said he wouldn't sign permanently.

He know's for a fact he's good enough to stroll into an Everton or a Swansea, * with Alberweireld going from Southampton he'd stroll into a team like that as well...

Our best chance is City giving him a contract and him wanting another loan move to us. Permanently? No chance. The bhoys going to the very top, I'm just happy we managed to have him for a while.

Aye to be fair, I was a tad exaggerating. You forget his age - he has time on his hands.

Maybe, just maybe he might be willing to come on loan again - a crack in Europe?

Start of the season and again near the end he's said he wouldn't want a permanent move. Loans a different story.

So even if we stumped up the £10m or so we'd need to buy him, which we won't, then we still would have to persuade him.

I have been beating the buy him outright with a sell back clause drum for most of the season. I wouldnt say it if i didnt think it was possible. Citeh may rate him, highly even but lets get real here, whoever is their manager this season is going to be under enormous pressure and will be reluctant to give him game time. We can take advantage of this situation. I think the likelyhood of this happening is 30% but if we are smart and we convince the player then we can get him. I have said all along that it will be harder to convince the player than it is to convince his club. The words from that Belgian coach are very encouraging and could help us land him imo.

The problem isn't just City, if he somehow becomes available at a price we'd pay, which would be under £5m, almost every team in Europe would want him.

You'd be as well shouting up your own * mate for all the good it does arguing a point with him.
    He's right, we're all wrong.

Until he's made to look a * again.

Possibly but we can convince the lad that he is best here. I also think you are overrating his reputation (not ability). Another good season with us and then I reckon you would be right. That is why it is now or never regarding signing him outright. If we get him on another loan then we will not get him after no matter what. He will be on a bosman and in a similar but better position to Gudetti. It has to be now
