VVD was signed to play with Wilson not as his replacement. Until he came to us he played on the right. I would have no hesitation playing him there.

He played on loan at Blackburn and was by all accounts pretty pish. I seen him play a game for PSV a year later and he seemed alright. I really don't think he's in Denayer's class though.

He makes mistakes a lot, can recall 4/5 goals just from games I seen and highlights where he was really at fault and he was the same the season before. Since the season before was really his first full season you'd have thought he'd have improved, cut out mistakes and became wiser but he was really just the same, caught out a lot etc

Very encouraging quotes from Jason. We must try and sign him up permanently. Even another loan and a sneaky wee pre contract in January. Staying with us for a couple of seasons is really the best option for both parties. Cmon now ta * Pete and show the balls this deal can be done.

    I'd happily take Rekik here.

Not as good as Denayer or VVD but we could do alot worse in terms of a replacement. Spent the last 2 seasons playing regularly for a very good PSV side.

Read it a half hour ago and wouldnt be bothered looking again. CQN i think.

    To paraphrase his actual quotes:

If i am not playing then we will sort something out

City might just want him back to get him signed up long-term, if it's true he's out of contract this time next year. There'd be no sense in loaning him out and letting him run down his contract.

Oh, it was probably that HITC article. That's the most recent one, I posted it earlier. Don't think it said anything about a permanent move, but he said that he needs to play and if he isn't playing then he would sort something out.

He'll go on loan next season. Be amazing if here. Probably cost around £10-12 mil to sign permanently. That's why I'm often a fan of loans. You can bring in players you wouldn't be able to sign on big wages for nothing whilst only paying a percentage of their wages.

On the subject of loans and Rekik. Man City have rejected an approach from PSV to have him back on loan for next season. City rejected the offer, saying they want him to gain experience in a different league. Been at PSV for 2 seasons.

I wonder if the same would apply to Denayer in regards to any loan deal.

The city manager is fighting for his job and this guy could be ahead of Jason in the pecking order which gives us the advantage.

Yes this means that if he is not in their plans then we must sign him outright. It is now or never or we could find ourselves in the same situation as Gudetti with the player holding all of the cards. I reckon we could do the deal for 3m tbh.

No chance. His deal is up this time next year. If he is not in their plans they will sell him for around 3m, maybe even less. Nowhere near 10 mo chara.

    No way.

He will go back and no doubt sign a new deal. I think you might be underestimating slightly how highly they rate him.

Even if not, they can clearly see he is more than a £3m player.

I know football lad and at the minute we find ourselves in a nice wee position. We can turn him into a full international and offer him the stability that will help him make it. The City situation is actually quite helpfull. If the current manager stays he will want to sign players to keep his job and the same for a new man. Neither will want to take a chance on a young player when they dont have to and can sign an established pro instead, I am telling you this deal can be done.

Jason Denayer is not half a million off Stefan Scepovic. If he was 30 then maybe £3mil but I would say at 19, newly capped Belgian: at the very very least £8 mil. If City sell him, they'd be idiots, but if they sell him for less than that then they have the wrong people in charge at the club, plain and simple.

    :smiley-laughing002:I'm not saying you don't.

There is no danger of us signing him for £3m. Even if there was a chance there'd be a hundred clubs lining up to sign him.

As it stands they still have Pellegrini as manager, for all we know Denayer could just be waiting on that new deal to be offered. It's not as if no-one at City hasn't realised his potential.

Another factor to consider is the financial fair play rule and the fact they need to have a certain amount of youngsters in their squad. Right now, with Boyata coming this way, Denayer looks likely to be the guy to fill that void.

I like your enthusiasm and I agree with you on the highlighted point but, no matter how much I would love this to happen, I just can't see it.

He's probably the best player under 20 we've had in my time watching Celtic. Which is about 15 years. Can't think of anyone better under 20, correct me if I'm wrong.

Boyata is 24, that won't count as a youngster.

    He counts.
