The thing is, Man City could wait and see what happens with us regards the CL before deciding if they want him to come back here on loan, which doesn't really help us. We need to make sure we qualify for the Group Stages this year, and we could very well need 2 new centre halfs come the summer. We wouldn't really be in a position to wait on Man City. If Van Dijk is sold for big money, it has got to be put back into the team to replace both he and Denayer for the qualifiers, assuming we don't get Denayer back for them.

I may be reading this wrong, but Why would we stop selling our best players because of that?

In the same way as the top Portuguese and Dutch sides are, we are a selling club to bigger leagues. That is not to say we have a low glass ceiling, look at portos european record to see where that strategy can take you

Porto's record for selling players is ridiculous and their model for recruiting and selling is definetly along the lines of what we are trying to emulate.

Obviously they have the added advantage of all the South Americans but I believe our strategy will help us grow if we make the right buys. VVD, Bitton and Johanson all have the potentiol to be £10m+ players and if we keep replacing them with young quality eventually we will be able to up the prices we ask for and pay as we become a proven market. Forster, Wanyama and Ledley have done us very well in that respect.

Kompany just got sent off for Belguim. Benteke subbed off and Denayer brought on. Brilliant for a 19 year old.

'Denayer has been sensational since coming on' according to the commentator.

He played well when he came on and the commentator praised him too, Bitton also made some great passes forward.

    Catch 22 situation.
He plays well then Man City will want to keep him.
He plays * then we want to get rid.

    Hope he stays with us.
Prefer him to VVD if there was a choice between keeping one or the other but not both.

Be hard to keep him but he's being recognised because of his move here. He wasn't playing first team, European football before us and certainly wasn't called up nevermind capped by the full Belgian squad. That probably won't work in our favour but hopefully it does..

    Terrific player..

I still think we have a very good chance of getting him on Loan for another season

I honestly think he could play beside Kompany in Man City's team right now. I think Kompany has suffered big time with Demichelis beside him, as they cannot play a high line, and Kompany has gone backwards over the past year or so in my opinion. They signed Mangala, and any time I have seen him, he has looked very error prone, and pretty dreadful in all honesty. I hope we can get him back on loan next season, but I'm not optimistic about our chances.

Jason did very well when he came in. I hope he'll play at Wales now that Kompany is suspended for that one.
Otherwise ....Biton was the main man on Israel's side. Belgian commentators praised him.
