This is the kind of thinking that lets Lawwell get off the hook. As i said we can afford to pay a transfer fee for him, we can afford to pay him a wage he will find reasonable, as i said it is the player we would need to convince. Hard yes but it can be done and we should try to get it done. What is the point of turning up for the Champions League games when the chances are we wont beat the team in front of us?

Id say City would accept a bid of 5m and the player would accept a contract worth 20k per week. Well within our budget

Ronny has contacts at City don't worry he has it all sorted :50:
Kompany seems to be a bit * lately though so maybe City will offer us him on a season loan instead :icon_mrgreen:

You say that. Ronny says it'll be £10m before he'd even kicked a ball professionally. £20k is a pittance in football terms, especially to players like Denayer, he can earn far more.

He's outwith our reach unless Denayer himself wanted to force it to ourselves.

I.e. Back on loan next season and signing on a bosman for less wages than he knows he can get elsewhere.

Possibly doesn't. Think if he did/does, he'll be here next year 100%..

City might let him stay another year, but its convincing Denayer that we're good for his development. He might want to get farmed out to the EPL, who knows. Looka like he will a great player in the future, sadly just not for us.

I don't understand why tbh, because he won't get a game at City. He doesn't seem like that sort of person but maybe he's getting a bit ahead of himself.

Kolo Toure is a free agent in the summer would be a decent pick up for us took a wage cut at Liverpool and would offer us experience if Denayer returned

I think that is the biggest obstacle to be honest

10m thats just a media figure like when Lenny said Wanyama was 25m. I even think Ronny said it for the craic. He has only played senior football in Scotland is how the English will look at him. For once this could work to our advantage.

As for the wages i would be amazed if he is on more than 10k at city. I really would he was in their development team last season. I would think it would be closer to 5 tbh.

I really think we can do this deal if we can get the player on board

It doesn't help when Virgil is wanting off, especially since the partnership they have developed and seem quite close as well..

Im all for signing an experienced player but i think he is slower than a week in jail, not good for our high line. Amido Balde tore him a new one at Landsdown as well

Each to their own. We can't though, don't be dissapointed when it doesn't happen.

I know it wont happen. Lawwell would need to be worked with if we spent a bit of money. We could make this happen though.

Criminal that he's only 19. He's becoming a brilliant defender, and looks like he will go on to become a star.

You can't honestly be trying to argue that this kid is out of our reach because of Lawwell, can you? Think about what you're saying here. If he were 25 and playing like this, he'd be out of our reach; at 19 he's worth so much more than we can afford that it's frightening.

Edit: seriously, mate. Have a think how good this kid is going to be. Do you honestly think Man City will value him at £5 million?!!! His potential is even greater than Van Dijk's and you and I both would be (quite rightly!) calling for Lawwell's head if he sold Virgil for that price.

No offence, og1 (because it happens to us all sometimes and * knows I've also said plenty of daft things on here), but you've just plain lost the plot this last few pages.

Another year at Celtic would do him wonders. He's got a good thing going on here, why risk a year in City's development squad or warming the bench at Stoke City?
