They probably do, they're hardly going to sell him for £4million or so. If someone bid £10million they'd probably take it. But £4million is heehaw to them, theyre probably rather keep him than get that as he could turn out good.

We should blackmail them now, either they agree to extend the loan for an extra season OR we let him rot with our reserves :56:

I think this is the best we can hope for. It wouldn't bother me if he was a 2-3 season loan as long as he had the right attitude for it.

Man City won't sell this guy. They only loan youngsters out now who are going to play regular first team football. He will probably be back to City end of this year with some good first team experience & hopefully have played in the CL.

If young players develop at Celtic then other young stars who cannot break into their own first teams may see us as the next BEST option of regular football.

The clubs reputation is enhanced .. hopefully our team is stronger and brings success and financial rewards.

Some players may choose to sign for us (Foster springs to mind). Also players who are older, coming back from injury etc may see a 6 month stint with celtic as a good step.

I think there are lots of benefits ... as long as these players are better than what we have at the club.

there is also one other benefit or drawback that has not been mentioned. When the players club want to monitor him one of our own players may catch their scouts eye ( VVD or McGreggor?)... and that club may look at putting in a bid...

Great debut, I don't think we'll get him permanently though at the end of the season if he keeps playing like that.

    Sadly.

I think this guy is quality, however I don't know how he can be rated at £10 million when Van Dijk is rated around the same and has first team and champions league experience. I know Denayer has huge potential, but Virgil is already a very good player and still has a lot of potential

I read somewhere that the Celtic players are calling him "Sevco" as he is the new Komany
He looks the part and if he makes us into a better team for a season or two its worth it .
If Celtic are able to bring him on substantially then other money rich clubs may loan out their starlets to us . We as fans see our team progressing and can maybe enjoy having many young exciting players playing for us . Can't be too bad , better than signing 28/30 year olds on loans because their clubs want them off their pay roll .

It's subjective. Realistically, VVD is the much more accomplished experienced defender but £12m is our sort of ceiling value for a player at the moment.

Man City on the other hand don't need income from anyone. So why would they sell a young boy with huge potential for what is essentially spare change to them? It would have to be a ridiculous offer to tempt them. Hence, £10m.

Of course I'm absolutely loving the way the club is run nowadays. It's not just the money but the owners have made a real conscious effort to keep the identity and soul of the club and they have alot of input from us fans. They're not like other owners who come in and change the colour of the kit or the name. They embrace our history (contrary to popular belief we do have one!) and try to improve every aspect of the club.

Are there downsides? A few but well worth putting up with. The biggest is the way we are perceived by those outside the club. I'm not particularly bothered what others think but it is annoying listening constant criticism about how our owners will get bored or we'll never have our own academy players or we have no history etc etc.

As for the money in English football, its * ridiculous. But it was ridiculous when United made Keane the first £50k /week player and then arsenal made Campbell the first £100k/week player. There fans didn't mind it when they could do it alone but now other clubs can do it they don't like it.

His lack of height worries me, pretty much useless in the air if he's faced with a physical striker.

Other than that, he looks pretty good. Fast and reads the game well.

It's funny to see a guy who is apparently 6'0 being criticized for his lack of height, but I suppose a couple of inches can make a difference when you're a centre back.
