Never heard of him before this but I'm drooling at the prospect now. If he's a s good as Deila says and if we can get past Maribor we might even keep Van Dijk for one more year and have a really top class defence (I'm sure Izzy's drop in form is just temporary due to WC).

I don't see how they could ask for 10 million unless he had first team football under his belt and yeah it's very hard to beilve since he has not played first team football, do you see where I'm coming from.

City have paid daft money for countless players and they have just spent that on a France international.

Do you really think hand on heart that this boy is worth 10 million and he would be sold for 10 million or any club would pay 10 million for him and he has not played compative first team football? Cause I don't

Who is the semi pro club in league 1?

Good call. We should swap Mulgrew and Ambrose - Mulgrew centre back, Ambrose defensive mid.

Good example, and he played first team football and is English so he is going to be over priced, but this boy has not played at all under Ronny and he is saying we have a 10 million pound player.

If Jordan Rhodes, coming from Huddersfield Town, is worth £8m then there's a good chance than Denayer, coming from one of the best development squads in the world and one of the biggest clubs in England, is worth £10m. :smiley-laughing002:

You're the one talking out of your *, bhoy81, as you know * all about the lad.

Izzy was woeful in the WC as well though, and hasn't hit top form since the 2010/2011 season. Sad to say but I think he, like Kayal was a 1 hit wonder. Of course that's not just their faults as injuries ruined them.

Would be cool to look back on this signing in 5/6 years if Denayer becomes one of the best defenders in the world. :icon_mrgreen:

Forster's one of the most expensive goalkeepers in English football history. They don't bat an eyelid at shelling out £10m for an outfield player. Good effort, pal, but unfortunately you've made yourself look a bit daft there.

Aye would be great to see it, or he could end up playing for a mid table team in Belgium ;-) haha

    Shame we can't fast forward.

I thought Izzy was great last season and the back half of the season before that.

I was using this example to defend the fact that he might well be a £10m player at the minute. Smalling was valued at that (wrongly in my opinion), as he had a lot of potential at the time, after having played only a handful of games for Fulham. It's not out of the question to assume that had this guy not been at Man City, but at a lesser team, then he may well have played a similar amount of games as Smalling did prior to going to Man Utd. Denayer might have a lot more potential than Smalling did, and at his age, that is what teams are paying big bucks on, potential.

Smalling wasn't a £10m player when Man Utd signed him, but that's what they paid, as they obviously thought he had bags of potential. Same with Phil Jones who went for £16.5m.

If it's the case that this guy really is out of our reach financially, I'm not complaining. I'd happily see us loan a first XI of £10m players with no option to buy if it were possible. :smiley-laughing002:

Stop talking *, you used Jordan Rhodes, what the * does he have to do with it? A guy who has scored goals and proved himself at first team level?

I could have said if Andy Carroll was worth 35 million then Hooper was with is at the time, but aye nice try to twist things.

If you can show in all your so called wisdom that this boy who has not played competstive first team football is worth 10 million pounds I will agree with you, I till then, I will keep my views.

Wow...it can't just be a straight forward loan deal....it has to involve us losing our best defender to them.
We really are the most paranoid * on the planet.

Thing is his price was out there to fend off people Man Utd paid it and shocked everyone even Jones played first tram football as well, both are English and are going to go for well over the top prices, look at Kompany, not English and played loads of first team football before his move to city and look what they paid for him compared to the other two English players.

I just think it's a massive PR stunt from our manager since he said there was not point in developing other teams players and now he has one.

Just cause I've spoke out saying he is not worth 10 million that the manger has said the same old people having hissy fits ect you can't have any constructive criticism. Makes me laugh

At least we can debate and talk about it mate.

Top assister in our team last season. He was excellent, would say he was better than his first season.

You used Fraser Forster's price tag as justification for this boy not being a £10m player, you halfwit. Goalkeepers fees are renowned for being a fraction of that of average outfield players. If I'm right, Forster's fee of £10m would put him in the top 5 most expensive goalkeepers in history, certainly top 10.

First team football's all that matters, aye? Well, I can say with complete confidence that a 16 year old Lionel Messi with no first team experience was worth more than many players at the time. He was at the best youth academy in the world at La Masia, a huge prospect and Barcelona had invested a great deal in training him to the highest standards. He wasn't playing because he had the likes of Ronaldinho playing ahead of him. It was no indication of his quality as he could have walked into most sides worldwide.

Sub Denayer with Messi, Manchester City with Barcelona, La Masia with Manchester City's academy and Ronaldinho with Kompany.

I'm using extremes so it's easy for you to understand, by the way, but that'll probably go straight over your head.
