    City on Denayer*:

In his short time at City, Belgian centre half Jason Denayer has proved himself to be a classy operator on the ball and an excellent reader of the game at the heart of the back four.

The 19-year old struck up an excellent partnership with Shay Facey in defence throughout the 2013/14 season as the boy Blues went deep in four competitions at home and abroad.

He scored his first goal for the club in the 6-0 UEFA Youth League win over Bayern Munich at the start of October and continued to shine throughout the season, earning himself opportunities to train with the first-team at Carrington.

A Belgian youth international, the ambitious Denayer was nominated for the EDS Player of the Year award after a fantastic 2013/14 campaign and joined Celtic on a season-long loan on 12 August 2014.

    Taken off the City website.

Hopefully he keeps Efe out the team, although I can see Efe popping up in a defensive midfield role.

    From Sky transfer centre :
Here is more on the news that Celtic have completed the signing of teenage Belgian defender Jason Denayer on a year-long loan from Manchester City. The 19-year-old featured in Manuel Pellegrini's first-team squad in the pre-season tour of Scotland and will be available for selection ahead of the Hoops' Champions League qualifier against Slovenian side Maribor.

i actually wouldnt be against that, i think he lacks the discipline to play at cb. However hes good on the ball and maybe he would do well in this position.

    when is Brown back?

    --------------gordon----------------
    lustig--dennayer--vanDijk--izzaguire
    -------ambrose-----johansen--------
    --mcgregor---commons----tonev----
    ---------new striker please-----------

brown to come back in for ambrose or johansen, forrest, mcgregor and tonev to battle for the wide slots. Hopefully we get a new dm in the wanyama mould, a new lb, another winger and please * a half decent striker

My only worry is his quotes on the bbc website. He says specifically he is coming for one year. Would be a shame if he turned out great and we had to give him back to Man City

There's no way we will be able to have the option to keep him IMO, alot of people were talking about him even being slowly introduced to the City first team this year.

In this picture Efe Ambrose is educating new Celtic signing Jason Denayer on how to clear a ball over the top of the defense. A bewildered Denayer looks on while Virgil Van Djik thinks "Oh Efe".

I have a feeling he'll be a quality player for the year we have him and then go back to City with valuable first team experience.

Only problem in my mind is that its not really helping the future of Celtic but it seems beggars can't be choosers. :54:

You never know he may end up loving the club and wanting to stay, especially if City continue their spending spree.

Early days but I get the impression he is a guy willing to make the best decision for his career, if he knows he aint going to play regularly at City then he may want to move. Time will tell.

I have a feeling this either means that Ambrose will get dropped, or Van Dijk is getting sold. Hopefully it is the first of they suggestions.

Even more likely if he isn't deemed good enough to play he'll be back down the road well before the season is out.

    Very Happy about this loan.

We may not be able to compete with the EPL clubs but surely we COULD be the No1 club for players in the EPL to go on loan to?

Not ideal for the club i love but big Fraser done well here, Petrov, Hooper etc all came here and got CL experience, regular games, improved and went on to do well for themselves.

Perhaps we should be pushing this angle come the january window... if good players or young guys are not playing in their own team then a loan or move to celtic mightbe in their best interests

If our two loanees do well this year it will hopefully lead to a few more players looking at Celtic as a good option.

just hope Maribor don't prove a major stumbling block. i think we have used up our share of luck for 2014
