We better make sure, we don't want to forfeit the game and lose 3-0.:smiley-laughing002:

It would be disappointing if there was no option to buy. I think he is only the second Belgian to wear the hoops. It is nice seeing a fellow countryman living the dream. :50:

That would not be an issue as I am sure we can count on Maribor's honour.

    Confirmed?

Wonder who we'll loan as his replacement next year?

If these players are deemed to be quality and are available on loan initially should we just not take them in favour of someone who will cost money?

    Why not have both?

No option to buy is hardly surprising considering the price Belgian players are costing. What it might give us is a good squad for the Champions' League and going into it with some hope of getting results. We've at least got him for the whole season.

Also by the end of the season he'll be going into the last year of his deal. So we'll just have to wait and see.

I also got the feeling he is too ambitious to sign permanently for Celtic. He left Anderlecht (who often compete in the CL group stages like us) in search for a career in the EPL. It is clear that he is looking for somehting else than the Scottish or Belgian league.

It is up to us to prove him wrong and show him what a great club Celtic really is.

Then we don't buy. There's a good chance he won't want to come to Scotland permanently anyway, and will view coming to Celtic as part of his learning curve for making it at the EPL level.

I remember in another thread someone mentioned the idea of us striking up a relationship with a richer side like City where we can loan players who won't be featuring in their first team.

Well, this is an example of that kind of relationship.

So he is either just cover for the cb position or we have a plan to bring him in after the loan.

It gives us a different option maybe. Might be worth pushing one of the center backs into holding midfield. VVD probably.

I could only find some links to Flemish newspapers reporting about his move to Manchester City (in Dutch):

    http://www.hln.be/hln/nl/950/Buiten...werkt-aan-doorbraak-bij-Manchester-City.dhtml

    http://www.nieuwsblad.be/sportwereld/cnt/dmf20130807_00685462

They do not add much other than that he is not very well known (contrary to Bossaerts), that he started out as a striker, left Anderlecht at the age of 13 to join the football academie of Jean-Marc Guillou, got turned into a defender and then moved to City.

Here he states that he does not like running:

    http://www.voetbalnieuws.be/news/114597/Belgisch_toptalent_bij_City:_%22Ik_loop_helemaal_niet_graag%22

There is an article in French here, but nothing noteworthy in there:

    http://www.africatopsports.com/2014/07/17/jason-denayer-belgo-congolais-vise-place-man-city/

So it seems he hardly speaks English and that he speaks French with this Belgian teammate (who is Flemish by the way). I hope his English has improved by now.
