This whole affair is becoming very frustrating. CAS has to put an end to this farce. If they let Legia provisionally back in it will drag on and on for months.

Presumably they would only do that while Uefa and Legia fight the case. Uefa would be obliged to fight it to the fullest and when they win Celtic would be due money from lost earnings.

Would they try and get out of paying Celtic? Surely not since that would imply if your're cheated out of a tie it's a case of 'tough luck'.

As someone said, this could make a mockery of European football. CAS has to end this swiftly.

 

There is nothing to be frustrated about. We are in the CL play off round, nothing will change that now.

Everything now is just laughing at these desperate twats on here trying to find any little opening they can, which isn't going to happen.

Common sense cannot play a part in them because they are two separate rules for two separate incidents. Debrecen fielded an ineligible player; Ligia fielded a suspended player. The incident for Legia cannot be looked at and have rule 2) applied because it doesn't apply to their case. Just like Debrecen's incident couldn't have had rule 1) applied because that wasn't applicable to their incident.

Take the FC Sion case. They fielded several ineligible players (not suspended) so they were booted out because of the obvious disadvantage. IF they had fielded only one ineligible player for the last 5 minutes of the match and that player done nothing, then they MAY have just gotten a fine (as per wording of rule 2)). So, if Bereszynski was ineligible then Legia would probably have only got a fine because there was no obvious unfair advantage. However, Bereszynski was suspended, not ineligible, and because Legia played him illegally, the match was instantly forfeit (as per rule 1). Legia gained no advantage, but they fielded a player who was suspended, not ineligible, and that's where the difference comes in.

If there was a rule that was made up for "paperwork errors", then that rule would be taken advantage of again and again by other teams as they would be able to just say it was a mistake. It's up to the Club to make sure that ANY players they are planning to use are legal to play. If Legia weren't sure that Bereszynski was allowed to play or not, then they should have sought clarification and not just presumed he was OK. It's really pure incompetence by the Club.
