It's a strange situation. I'd like to see what evidence they have (not calling Logan a liar, but until I see any proof and given the player and club's stance on the issue I'm not going to comment).

i want to see the evidence ... because if it exists then he should be sent back to his club and his loan deal cancelled immediately.

I just think maybe somethings been going on between them on the pitch. My view is Aberdeen were playing their way back into the match and would have done anything to gain an advantage. Obviously the player thinks that's somehow a red card offence and their manager has taken it further. Probably not all that much in it. Loud atmosphere, back sounds like black. Maybe he's been fly about it, maybe it's something a bit lost in translation.

Tonev is a good wee player. Something like this comes up when i think he was starting to show some real potential.

Regardless, if there's no concrete evidence I hope he takes the SFA to the cleaners.

Logan must have convinced more than Tonev.. People get convicted all the time without any evidence apart from a victims testimony..

If no other evidence is offered/produced and Celtic loose the appeal..we have already backed him so would be interesting to see what the club would do..

Do they keep their word and back the player and be accused of harbouring a racist.. Or send him back early sending a message about racism after publicly backing him..

It's a mess and seems a no win situation..

Which is ridiculous, to be fair. Under those rules I could say that someone called me a "* *" and get him done for it? Absolutely mental.

If the appeal fails then I hope Celtic send Tonev straight back to Villa

Sets a dangerous precedent this, just accuse a player of racism and he'll get banned, nice way to gain an advantage in future fixtures.

I know... It's a difficult one for the SFA tho.. As we weren't preesent and no minutes are published I guess it would come down to who came across better and in this Tonev is at a disadvantage as English not his first language..
If he used an interpreter or tried in English it would defo come across less passionate than an English speaker.

Hopefully an appeal mighty be successful then again he might have actually said what is alleged..

    * situation for all involved really..especially Logan if the allegation is true..

There seems to be a lot of people queuing up to be judge, jury and executioner here. As far as I understand, there is no evidence against Tonev other than the word of the Aberdeen player involved. No visual evidence, no audio evidence and no witnesses to it. All we have is the word of one man against another. That doesn't seem like a very solid basis on which to be jumping to conclusions or disowning Tonev. The fact that the club are agreeing to back Tonev in his appeal says to me that they must believe there is an element of doubt about what really happened here. They wouldn't be standing by him if they felt sure the guy was guilty of racism.

I'll be honest, there is a part of me that wonders why the Aberdeen player would make such an accusation if it wasn't true, but that isn't enough in itself for me to categorically believe Tonev is guilty.

Unless some solid evidence turns up I think we should stand by the guy. If we abandon the principle of innocent until proven guilty then we have started down a very slippery slope.

Aye, sort of thing I could imagine Sevco using next season to get key Celtic players banned.

The problem I have with this is that its one persons word against another so how can he be found guilty?

If Tonev was found guilty and there is evidence to support it then I would hope Celtic would send him back to Villa, but there has to be evidence.

This isnt the point but we wouldnt exactly miss him, its not as though it was a player like Broony or Guidetti that allegedly said it.

Also find it strange the SFA come out with this kind of punishment for a player supposedly racially abusing another with little or no evidence, whilst ignore the song list of the Huns every week even when it's clearly picked up on TV cameras etc and there's a mountain of evidence. Why is one considered worse than the other by the powers that be?

Friend who works for Aberdeen actually says that there is video evidence that hasn't been made public. Don't shoot the messenger just repeating what was said.
