Doing a career mode with Celtic. Into my second season at the moment

In the first season, won the league while going invincible and also won The Europa League, beating Lyon in the Final. Highlights of the season were beating Liverpool 4-0 at Celtic Park in the Europa and also beating The Huns 3-0 at Ibrox, with Filip Twarzdick of all people getting a brace.

Signed Ben Amos from Man United for veritable pennies as my first choice goalkeeper. This annoyed existing keeper Craig Gordon, who spent most of the season bleating about not playing enough.

In August of my second season, a bid for 1 Million comes in for him. I haggle it up to 2 million and move him on. This leaves me with only two keepers, so I have a look for a cheap option for a third one.

Ended up signing Richard Wright, who is rated 62 and is aged 37. I'm paying him 2K a week but gave him a 20% clean sheet bonus as I felt he wouldn't play much and he probably wouldn't keep that many clean sheets

First game I use him in, he keeps a clean sheet

He's only played two games and hasn't complained once. Amos is starting to look quite good now. His rating isn't going up as quick as I would like, but he's had two clean sheets in the Champions League now against Zenit and Barcelona. Beat Barca 1-0, Leigh Griffiths getting the goal

Biggest signings have probably been Gary Mackay-Steven and Shane Duffy

Spent most of my money getting a good youth scout signed up so I can start developing my own players

Lustig left in the summer, claiming of being homesick, only to win up at QPR. They paid me 5 Million for him. I ended up signing Danny Simpson off them for just under a million. He's rated 73 and has done a good job for me.

Beat Rangers 5-0 at Ibrox in my Celtic career, with Shane Duffy scoring a goal

    * corker too, got the ball on the half way line and charged through the Ranger's defence to smash it past the keeper. Madness!

Whenever I play as Everton at the moment, I seem to always score from a Barkley header at a corner

I've successfully negociated my Champions League group in my seconf season of my Celtic career, with just 4 games gone

Top of the group with 3 wins and 1 draw on 10 points. Barca in second with 9. Zenit 3rd with 2 and Saint Etienne in 4th with 1.

Still got to go to the Camp Nou and have also got to play Saint Etienne at home

Draw 0-0 with Zenit at home and beat them 2-0 away, which I'm quite happy with. Beat Etienne 3-1 at their gaff and somehow managed to beat Barca 1-0. Leigh Griffiths got the winner in that one ;)

Not sure whether to rest players now in the next two games or to go all out and try to win the group. Thankfully, the squad players are generally quite good, so I can trust them in the League and Scottish Cup

Going with a starting XI of

    Amos
    Simpson, Ambrose, Van Dijk, Izaguirre
    Brown, Johansen
Matthews (Quite good as an RM on the game), Commons, Mackay-Steven
    Griffiths

That's what I'd consider my strongest team, but the back up isn't bad either

    Zalukas
Fraser, Duffy, Mulgrew, Rocha (Lad I bought from Portugal. Solid LB)
    McGeough, Twarzdik
    Forrest, McGregor, Boerigiter
    Stokes

Not really bought that many expensive players, as I've been focusing more on youth development and buidling up the players I have

Probably the most I've spent was for Mackay-Steven and he's been an excellent signing. Scored on his debut in an Old Firm game at Ibrox, so I can't really complain about that :smiley-laughing002:

I apologise in advance, but this is the issue with Career Mode for me. Is setting the difficulty to a level where you can achieve unrealistic things easily really something to brag about?

Don't get me wrong, I think the "storytelling" thing that Career Mode does is kinda cool, but I don't read the above and think "well done mate, get in."

Because ultimately anyone could do it, couldn't they?

I'm even putting myself off Seasons by going on about it so much (not really :celt_2:) but win Div 1 in Seasons mode against similarly rated teams and THAT'S something I would say "yeah, fair play mate, good going"

I noticed last night that EvilPete won the first div in Seasons recently - well done mate, good going :50:

I wouldn't come on and say "oh last night I was great, I killed the final boss in Gears of War 3" cos that would be ridiculous (I don't know if it has a "final boss" btw as I am only half way through it) and to me boasting about doing well in CM is equally as pointless.

Sorry mate, just my take on it. I definitely like to hear stories re games in general (just not claim credit for doing it.) Good luck in your future Career mode with Celtic! :celt_2:

I agree it's well to easy nowadays last year was terrible for pre contacts because nobody ever renewed there's so you could have a world class team within 2 years if you had a budget of at lest 5 million also some of the transfer fees you get are stupid also annoys me when other teams don't buy players

I hope they put Celtic Park in the game at some point

Playing at the "Eastpoint Stadium" isn't anywhere half as fun as playing at Park Head would be

As games consoles get stronger graphically and processing wise, I reckon there could be a FIFA with every English and Scottish stadium on it eventually

I was amazed they squeezed all the Premier League stadiums in this year
