If you are referring to Berget, then it's a slightly different scenario. Berget hadn't been with the club 24 hours, hadn't had a proper training session, and probably didn't know all his team mates names when he played in Warsaw. Denayer has been here a week now, and played 90mins, a very good 90mins at that.

If you weren't referring to Berget, then just ignore all that I've written :smiley-laughing002:

Having watched him playing at right wing back for Nigeria in World Cup, I think Efe is more comfortable and suited to that position.
However by far biggest issue in CL is whether Ronny changes format. Surely he has wised up to fact that we cannot play 2 in middle of park with one of them a DM. To be effective we need to play 3 in middle and force opposition to go wide, otherwise they will just go through middle and make us and in particular, SJ, suffer. Stay tight away from home and hit them on counter. Know it goes against Ronny's mantra but as has been said many times, we don't have the physical players to play a more attacking style in CL.

Its gotta be Izzy, VVD, Lustig, Ambrose at the back. Think that will be the most solid back four we could go with.

Its the holding midfield that i have problems picking. Don't fully rate Kayal, Mulgrew, Bitton or Johansen. Would probably leave Mulgrew and Bitton out and then have Commons, Stokes and McGregor behind Berget. Think Stokes would be much more effective behind the striker as opposed to being the striker.

That's a good shout actually. Berget looks like he holds play up well and he's good in the air.

Not confident about this at all, we'll need to be fully switched on and pragmatic to get a result here...

    Gordon

    Lustig Ambrose Van Dijk Izaguirre

    Biton Mulgrew Johansen

    McGregor Stokes Berget

Ive probably posted about 10 different teams up to now, so may aswell have another go...

    Gordon
    Lustig Ambrose Van Dijk Izaguirre
    Mulgrew
    Kayal Johansen
    Commons Stokes
    Berget

Stokes and Commons just playing like attacking midfielders but filling in out wide when defending.

Denayer had 2/3 dodgy moments at the weekend, wouldnt want him to make a blunder in a big game this early in his career. Ambrose is more comfortable on the ball, especially under pressure, Denayer isnt yet used to the dodgy way we try and always play from the back and put ourselves under pressure and he could get done.

I just want an away goal, even if we were to lose 3-1, I think we'd be capable of scoring 3 at home. But to lose 1-0 or 2-0 would be annoying, meaning we'd be under pressure at home not wanting to concede but having to score.

I can't see Ronny sacrificing any of the front 4. I think we'll line up like this. Wee bit of a worry but it could work if we play like we did against United.

    Gordon
    Lustig Denayer Virgil Izaguirre
    Johansen Mulgrew
    McGregor Commons Berget
    Stokes

If we play with three in the centre, who does he drop?
