You can not allow a player who is serving a suspension to feature on the bench or starting line-up. The rule is in place to make sure suspensions are enforceable and make the distinction from an ineligible player (signed under embargo or not registered in time for game) and a suspended player (Red card offense, Breach of the rules, dangerous play etc)

Legia should be furious at their club, We would be shouting for heads and for Lawel to go. Our fans would be spitting venom and Ronny or Lennon or whoever presided over the * up would be sacked overnight.

If you honestly feel that a rule that punishes an honest mistake filling in a form with the same sanction as deliberate cheating is not problematic, I don't know what to say. Even the legal system differentiates level of intent when punishing (e.g. murder vs manslaughter vs negligence).
