    ineligible i.e a player who has transferred from another club who has played in the competition for example juan mata wasnt able to play for man u last year in the CL because he had already played for chelsea in the competition

    suspended i.e head butted a guy got sent of and a 3 match ban for example Bartosz Bereszynski

    Ineligible; example is true above. It is actually a player who is not registered to play in the game or cannot be registered due to a situation like above or missed deadlines.

    Understandably, it can be confusing, as a player who is suspended can also, by definition, be ineligible. As far as UEFA rules are concerned, he is legible, just can't play due to suspension.

    Most press stories had made this all the more confusing by misinterpreting UEFA rules and definitions.
