STVGrant says it's definitive from UEFA regulations, that if Legia is guilty, we'll progress.

Don't want to fuel false hope, we don't deserve it anyway, but there's something there.

 

By accident. If they intentionally broke the rules like Sion or your hypothetical Suarez example, you'd have a case; but this was an accident and moreover one that didn't affect the result, so no harm no foul.

Thats the way it would have to be though, UEFA would really have no option but to enforce the rules. As if they dont then they are open to abuse by anyone.

There is no differance from one team playing a banned player for 4 minutes, to one team playing a banned player for a full game. A banned player still played.

And if they allowed one team off with a small fine, then they'd have to allow everyone the same punishment. Which means rich teams would just ignore all bans and play their players when they want.

Was it an accident though? how can it be proved. Barcelona could play Suarez in every game he's banned for next season and just keep claiming they forgot he was banned as who is to say they didnt really forget?

For all we know they might have wanted the boy to get experience of playing in a big European game.

One part that sticks out to me is the team getting through on legit goals against default goal..

Would legit goals be ranked higher than our away goal?
