Said for a good while Bayern will win it this year still reckon they'll do it. Pep has them near enough unbeatable again.

 

Aye, Dortmund and Schalke should really have knocked them out and Atletico should have beat them in the final. The were lucky to win it last year.

I think too many of the other teams would cut through their defence for them to win it now Bayern, Barca, Atletico and Dortmund, although they always have a wee advantage against Barca themselves from set peices and Barca allow them to counter attack with their pace, so those games are a lottery.

 

As a Bayern fan I'd love them to win it but I'm not ruling out Real yet. Bayern look good though.

 

Sky now reporting England could lose a champions league place,Italy are their closest rivals for the 4th spot that would be quality :icon_mrgreen:

Hope this happens. Would mean that Sky couldn't make a big massive deal about 4th place as well, like they do every year, as if it wins you a trophy.

 

Will never happen. Italy is struggling to keep Portugal at bay. Both are still miles behind third place Germany, never mind England.

 

How can it never happen their teams keep getting their * handed to them in Europe,all it would take is another couple of seasons of this,yes it won't happen next season but it's defo possible

 

Well there is currently a huge gap between third place Germany and fourth place Italy. So far Italy have got more points this year than England but it is a tiny amount more than the English as they only got one team, to England's three into the Last 16 of the Champions League. Not enough to close the gap.

This is the first time since the 05/06 season that Italy has got more points England (if we finished now), just to give you an idea of the gap. I bet England will still end up doing better than Italy as well this year. Beyond the all Italian game for this round of European games (Fiorentina x Roma) I can't see any other Italians teams getting through.

What will happen soon is Germany overtaking England but England will still get four places. Since the current model started England has never been outside of the top three places. That won't change as Italy is in no place to challenge England. Their teams do a lot worse overall than the English, year after year.

After Italy, no one has the capability currently to challenge to the top three. Turkey and Russia are the only ones with the potential but they are light years away now.

That's probably why they are doing so well. Napoli, who really are a UCL side, playing in EL winning most of their games.
