He said weeks ago he needed wingers. Weeks ago. Pretty much as soon as he walked in the door he identified it as a weak point in the team.

Some fair points there, Dáibhí. I thought I knew our players like the back of my hand and even I've been shocked by their inability to implement Deila's ideas. Deila's had just weeks to get to know them. I mean McGregor and Van Dijk apart (and Van Dijk's surely going), they just didn't look like they had the technique or intelligence to pull it off. It was shocking.

2nd July is the first article I can find on Ronny identifying wingers as a priority.

    And he said last night pre-match that he's now working with the board on bringing some new players in. His initial comments about wingers went something like this;

This suggests he's been looking at it, and will most likely bring in a winger or two this summer.

As I said, I'll wait until the end of the summer window before I grab my pitchfork and torch (not saying that you are doing this already, of course, but some are).

He was never going to get someone in within a week or so.

We could probably use wingers in the Europa league I'd imagine :86:

Very hard to sign wingers. think Lenny also saw that as a weakness, didn't he try to sign a few decent ones before ending up with Boa Constrictor?

6 weeks ago he identified it as weak point mate, not a week.

The annoyance with the board about the lack of funding doesn't only come from Deila's time in charge though does it? Let's be honest, if the board weren't as tight as two coats of paint, then the probability is, Neil Lennon would still be Celtic manager. He obviously didn't have another job lined up, but would rather have been out of work than still be manahing Celtic, that speaks volumes about the board's ambitions in my opinion. Biscuit tin mentality. It's the reason why Ledley was forced out the door as well I think, and the same goes for Samaras, albeit I wasn't fussed about that.

Yeah, I meant in time for the first round of qualifiers.

Lennon was given roughly the same amount of money to spend each summer, wasn't he? It was spent in various amounts on a various number of players.

We simply cannot spend more than we have been. There's always the threat that we don't make the promised land of the Champions League (which is always possible regardless of what we spend. We got Arsenal a few years back in the qualifiers and we could never have matched them in spending), and for those years where we don't we need a reserve of money to counterbalance the lack of cash coming in domestically.

Thanks to that business acumen we'll likely see Deila give the same £5 million to £7 million to spend that he would have got had he qualified for the Champions League.

boy we sure have needs to make the squad anywhere near presentable for football. Boerigter gotta go, that was a waste of money buying him in the first place. Am not happy with Pukki, Balde, Griffiths, Kayal. We have to get replacements in before the duds go out but I suppose contractual issues may affect the situation. Did we get Berget because he was "free"? If we transfer Forster, Van Dyck, Matthews,Ambrose, etc; we are in real trouble - hey we are in real trouble, there's no fight in our guys anymore, and I don't think Deila understands the word fight! And I don't mean foul!

I don't see that as progressing though, or even looking to progress. The more money we make, should surely mean more funds being made available to the manager, to try and take the team forward, that is in it's simplest form of course. Lawwell said before that we budget based on Europe League, since then we have gotten two big earners off the wage bill in Ledley & Samaras, reached yet another Group Stage of the Champions League, and sold Wanayam & Hooper. We have went backwards, there is no doubt about that.

We were fortunate to get Karagandy last year, otherwise I think we would have struggled to make the Group Stages, and due to lack of investments, and players such as Ledley & Samaras (two big players in Europe), being almost forced out by the board, it has caught up with us this time round.

Its time for Dermot Desmond and Peter Lawwell to go, neither have any credibility left with the vast majority of the Celtic support. These guys are only driven by the balance sheet and how good their dividends are going to be, success on the park is definitely of second importance to the balance sheet.

Look at the money they have raked in from CL games over the last few years, plus the sale of key players, sell high buying cheap !!!

Desmond is a Billionaire, so my question is " How much money does one man need ", he doesn't splash it about as far as Celtic FC are concerned, never mind all those so-called Stock Market rules. Can I remind him why Celtic FC were established, it certainly wasn't to fund greedy sods like him and Lawwell.

Keep seeing the Overseas Season Ticket Holder pitch on facebook. Yeah, because people would want to travel halfway round the world with the state of the club. Personally, I was planning to make my first trip to Celtic Park/Scotland for flag day, but I'm disgusted to say I'm reconsidering. Don't want this cloud hanging over my first time.

The only way to get rid of them is to starve the club of money from every stream, and someone must take it into their own hands and get the ball rolling, the mars bar incident at the new year hun game, was our first blow against the kelly/whites, i think a terrys chocolate orange in lawwells direction could be a subtle call to arms
