Trying to think of a starting eleven next week convinces me we won't do it, much as I hope otherwise.

    Forster
    Matthews-- Lustig--Virgil--Izzy
    Johansen
    Kayal--Mulgrew
    Commons------------McGregor
    Pukki

    Doesn't look great.

That's what I want to see next week. That team can do it.

Deportivo v AC Milan, Champions League, 2003/04

When holders Milan won the first leg 4-1 in the San Siro, many thought the return match would be a formality for the Italians to book a semi-final place.

However, what transpired inside the Riazor Stadium will be forever etched into the European history books as Deportivo’s four-goal destruction saw them triumph.

Milan were simply blown away by the rampant Spanish side – their first leg lead was wiped out by the interval with goals by Walter Pandiani, Juan Carlos Valeron and Albert Luque.

Depor were already through on away goals at this point but club captain Fran’s second-half volley ensured his side won the tie 5-4.

Javier Irureta’s team were the first to have recovered from a three-goal first-leg deficit in the competition’s history.

Fulham v Juventus, Europa League, 2009/10

The west London underdogs triumphed against the odds at Craven Cottage to send Juventus crashing out.

Leading 3-1 after the first leg, David Trezeguet struck in the early stages to put the Italians in the ascendancy and Fulham’s hopes of progressing into the quarter-finals looked forlorn.

Roy Hodgson’s team clearly had other ideas – Bobby Zamora and Zolan Gera struck either side of Fabio Cannavaro’s red card just before the break. With Juventus on the ropes, Fulham levelled the tie through a Gera penalty and Clint Dempsey’s superb chip ten minutes from time completed the most unlikely of comebacks.

I know this may sound a bit negative but does anyone feel this is arguably one the most frustrating times to be a celtic fan in the clubs history?

Nae bother,Ronny will play Griffith at RB,Stokes at LB,Mulgrew at CF,Commons in goal, and big FF out wide on the left, and its a * dawdle.

Hey look not for nothing but to play Mathews at LB and a total stranger on the same side in our most important game of the year, tells me one thing and that is,its not Ronny's fault its the fault of the guy who hired a complete unknown/untested manager.

And * all this * about it may take a few years, who the * wants to wait?

Don't know about one of the most frustrating in 126 years but it's * frustrating. Need to go through 3 qualifiers to get to the CL, not spending any money on players, selling our best players and not playing good football (although I expect that to change).

No, not really. At all. 90s would take that dubious honour, I'd imagine.

I think if we can get 1 early , 1 before break well have some chance but Its hard to not see them scoring. If we hadnt conceded that one in the last minute id be 10 times more confident of us going through :31:

we have a chance but i think we will come up short. can see a 2-1 or 3-1.

Ultimately though i think Europa league is the better option for us this year. At the moment and untill we spend money on a few decent players we are not a CL team.
