You lot might still make it to the next round.

Your board asked for a walkoever.

The reason is that one Legie players (Bereszynski) might not have been elligible to play. He was suspended for 3 games and did not play in games, although it is possible that he was not submitted to play in 2nd round.

Would have been a nightmare for Legia and kind of * move from Celtic board...the guy played just for 5 minutes, did not play in 3 games that he was suspended for...details and formalities.

Well guys. It seems Legia will be dq and you will go through after all. Bereszyński played last night and UEFA is telling now that his red card suspension from last year didnt ran out yet coz even tho he didnt play in the past 3 matches he was not registered to european matches for st pats tie and those games does not count :)

    It hangs on a technicality:

    - if a player who is suspended must be registered for a given round for his suspension count to decrease, then Legia might be out of the Champions League, because of the 4 minutes Bereszyński played in the 2nd leg (it wouldn't make much sense, because it would be penalizing TWICE for the same thing: player for the red card, and club for having one place fewer in the registration process, but who knows);

    - if a player must simply miss the number of games he is suspended for, then nothing happens, because Bereszyński didn't play in the two games against St. Pats and the first leg against Celtic.

So, it's just a technicality, and in such case, going with the spirit of the game (Bereszyński's 4 minutes in the 2nd leg in Edinburgh changed nothing) Legia should be fined but still qualify to the CL play-off.

I'd hate to go through like that. Legia were better.

I agree and I hope that it will end in such manner.

There was a precedense - some years ago Debrecen played against Litex and fielded a player who was not registered. It ended with a 15k euro fine.

We will see how it goes this time.

Well I for one can't believe that a team with such pride and honour like Legia, a fine Polish institution, would resort to cheating.

Hope they get thrown out. Sporting integrity must rule at the end of the day.

Cheating? The player wasn't an important team member. I think it was an oversight. It's not like Radović or Kucharczyk were the suspended ones.

Cheating is cheating doesn't matter if it is an important team member or not. Legia should lose the game 3-0. That will therefore mean 4-4 on aggregate with Celtic advancing on away goals.

    Our possible CL opponents are:

    Ludograts
    Maribor
    Slovan Bratislava
    Malmo
    Aalborg

    Hope we get Maribor.

I don't think it's cheating. Can the Legia fans explain this guy's relevance in their team? I'm betting it's an oversight.

What if Real Madrid reached the Champions League final this season and Ronaldo was red carded in the semi. But Real played him anyway and they won. Do you think Real should have the game conceded or just pay a fine cause it was a mistake, Real Madrid forgot.

Is this anything similar to the Sion situation or a smaller scale??

Nobody cares about Litex, where as the Celtic are world famous and a footballing giant. Our sharp suited lawyers will be all over this.

Who can Legia get in the EL play-off?

Different situation completely. This Bereszynski guy played for 4 minutes. Probably an unimportant player.

Still he shouldnt even have been on the bench.

We should just have played Scott Brown last season then as it's only Scott Brown we were playing Barcelona, AC Milan and Ajax what differance would he really have made?

Sion had fielded ineligible players (5), but there was also the matter of them signing a player or players during a transfer embargo. Guess we'll find out if fielding an ineligible player over a red card is worthy of disqualification.

I hope Legia are allowed to go through. It wouldn't be right for us to go through on a technicality like that when we were so thoroughly beaten.
