If Celtic lose against Legia, they go into the last round of Europa League qualifications.

And if Celtic go through against Legia then lose in the 4th round of CL qualifiers, they go into the Europa League group stage.

Losing teams of the 3rd qualifying round enter the 4th qualifying round of the Europa League, while losing teams of the 4th qualifying round (play off) enter the group stage of the Europa League.

We're guaranteed some European football at least then, I guess.

Our main aim has to be the group stages, then the Europa league if we can't get to the knock out rounds.

Legia fans are right-wing (like 95% of other Polish fanatics) but not extremists of any sort. True, they have this flag and the "White Legion" however in general they would not intimidate or taunt someone just because of the skin colour.

Would take a draw away from home. But 1-0 or something away would be fantastic. Is the away leg on TV?

That flag alone would be intimidating enough for someone who is black or jewish.

    I think you are over-exaggerating a bit ;)
Don't tell me a jewish or black person would be afraid of playing just because of a flag so small that he even would have serious problems noticing ;)

Frankly speaking, I do not approve of hanging out such flags but both UEFA and PZPN (Polish Football Association) have recently been quite successful in eliminating racist behaviours in the stands - whether it applies to flags or chanting (which has never been the case anyway).

It's not just about feeling afraid. It might make them feel angry, they might block it out, it might make them feel sick to the pit of their stomach (as discrimination is wont to do), whatever. The important thing is that black or Jewish players should not have to put up with that kind of environment at their place of work and it's also extra mental pressure being put on them.

I dnt think hes over-exaggerating at all. Thats a shocking banner and ofcourse the banner itself cant hurt you bt knowing the people that brought it there hate you for what you are and are only a short distance away from where u ply your trade I would imagine that would be quite unsettling at the very least.

Hoping we beat this lot. Should really beat them in Scotland but might get harder in Poland.

You see guys - for one it may be shocking however digging deeper into Polish history may reveal some facts which could turn out to be totally unknown to an outsider.
For instance I - even though I have jewish roots - cannot be too surprised why certain people in Poland dislike jews and show it publicly.
One always has to take into consideration that there may something more to it other than "I don't like you beacause I don't".

As far as black people are concerned:
Unfortunately - especially in early and mid 90s - skinhead movement was very popular among young lads hence you can still see its remains.
I am not trying to explain and excuse anyone but that's how it occurred and - to my sadness - is still present in some minorities.

And again - I do not support hanging out those flags. Football should be football and not politics/beliefs.

I'm with Gargamel and GodBlessJinky on this one. Such flags are an absolute disgrace, especially in a country that suffered so much from the hands of * racist scum.

One thing puzzles me though--I can understand that those "fanatics" are right-wing because they hate communism; I can also to some extent understand their dislike towards Jewish people (they are often blamed for helping the communists introduce their rule in post-war Poland) although considering the fact that 3 million Polish citizens of Jewish ethnicity were murdered alongside 3 million ethnic Poles during WW2 it is still very strange, but I can't for the life of me understand what on earth can those muppets have against black people. I mean, Poland never had any colonies, there is no history of slavery, and there are very few black people in Poland. Most of the people with that banner have probably never spoken to a black person in their life. So why the hatred? If I were to guess, it's probably just a silly pose: "Oh, look at me--I'm a great white power fighter! All blacks, Jews and lefties are afraid of me! Me strong, me fight good!".

Bit of a common wankerism but here it is. :87:
