When I was in New York I was wearing the 67 shirt and a wee Italian guy who owned the restaurant saw it and started fondly recalling 'the little red head Johnstone' and how unbelievably good he was...'the best'.Johnstone is an utter legend at this club and beyond,people who saw him remember and those who never have heard.

Jinky was fortunate enough or rather 'we' were, to be able.to see enough footage and hear stories from the likes of my old man and co witnessed him first hand..

You should remember that at the time Celtic players playing for Scotland were sometimes booed by their own fans due to the support being of a hunnish nature and of course oldco rangers players were chosen before Celtic players for reasons that had nothing to do with football.

We had Craig and Gemmell,they had Shearer and Calwell,we had Crerand,then Murdoch and McNeil ,they had Grieg,McKinnon and Baxter (one of the best football players ever),we had Jinky,Chalmers,Lennox,they had Henderson (a wonderful player and one of Jinky's best pals),Millar and Wilson,all great players.

But then you have to add in,Lorimer,St John,Bremner,Gray,the other Gray,Law,Galzean,Joe Baker,Cooke,Morgan,and so many more that you will find that back in those days Scotland for a small country had a glut of wonderful players,and maybe just maybe too many to choose from.

As for booing,never heard it in my day for we were there to support Scotland.
