Did he deserve to get sent off last night? I didn't see the game but saw he had been sent packing. Straight red also.

Yeah, he was the last man and it was a deliberate professional foul. No complaints.

Not a great start to the season for him then. I agree with you about him being like a new signing if he is played in his best position, especially if he can find the same form he did in the World Cup.

Now that Barca have Piqué, Bartra, Vermaelen & Mathieu in the central defender position you would hope he'll only really be used there in emergencies.

    Aye, surely.

The only thing is, will Busquets be dropped for him, as you would imagine it will then be between them for the holding midfield role. I don't see both them together in midfield.

With the amount of games they'll likely be playing you would imagine both of them will see some game time.

Not to mention this transfer ban of two years. They need as much cover as possible.

Pique is the only player of genuine Barca quality there, though. Vermaelen, maybe, but Wenger tends to be pretty canny when selling his players. Thomas is too injury prone to suit Barca's demands.

One overs down, one to go. I'm doubting Valencia now.

The officiating in the Malaga/Valencia game was nothing short of a disgrace in my opinion.

I have no complaints at all regarding the sending off, but the penalty that killed the game off was a complete joke. Welligton didn't play the ball intentionally, and was basically using his arm to keep himself up. there was nothing else he could have done.

As for the disallowed goal shortly after half time? I'm not sure what the linesman saw, but it was clearly onside.

    Shambolic.

Real Madrid should tear that backline apart.

Has the world at his feet, that kid. Such composure at only 20 years old. Even when he does make a mistake, it's usually because of his inexperience or covering for Gurpegui's lack of pace. And he's left-footed, as well. He got two red cards in his first 15 games for Athletic and I thought he'd end up like Ramos with his discipline. :smiley-laughing002: Thankfully he's stopped the mad tackles.

Still a bit confused with regards to how Basque he actually is though...Erreala fans always take the * and say he flew over it once, so qualifies. :56:

There's another CB coming through Lezama called Yeray, who's only a year younger than Laporte, who will hopefully play alongside him. He's captain material.

Barcelona are missing Fabregas lol ideally they could do with a Riquelme type playing though but not many/any of them about the now.

Struggling to break Villarreal down, but playing better football now than last season.

Wonder how they'll perform when we see Iniesta and Suarez plus Neymar fully up to speed.

    Bravo
    Alves Pique Mathieu Alba
    Busquets
    Rakitic Iniesta
    Suarez Messi Neymar
