Callum McGregor

He's a decent squad player and on his day he can be good. But we really should be looking for a higher calibre of player for our midfield. Toure and Erik in centre of defence, Griffiths and Dembele in up front, with Sinclair and Roberts out wide.

McGregor and Armstrong in the middle just isn't at that level.

 

I dunno man, he has definite quality - if he made it at champions league level, it wouldn't surprise me. However I just don't feel confident enough, that he is gonna do the job, I was screaming for Johansen to get on today because I know Johansen wont hold back from being dirty and being aggressive.

The point being, the attributes Mcgregor lacks in are those easiest to master, he can be a top player if he dedicates himself to it.

 

Definitely his poorest few game's spell in a Celtic jersey (today he was ok, just, contributed to our 1st). At least when he was getting a run and getting battered on here, he was still scoring on the wing..

Looks in his shell a touch. Been bullied far too much, outpaced, and game's are passing him by. Needs to wake up or he'll be warming the bench..

He just needs to be assertive in what he's doing, he's playing backwards more than usual and playing it safe more than usual, his true self just needs to come through. I don't think he's weak mentally, He came on and was up to it in the huns game last year, its about making a statement in a game, making a game yours.

My best mate plays Rugby for Scotland, the one impression i always get from that sport is there is some amount of grit and determination, the players will give everything out there, the main mark of simeone's athletico is this sort of style, if we can have our players playing with such aggression, we will go very far.

 

Having his typical season- plays really well in the first qualifying round, even chips in with a few goals, and starts to build some hype then when it comes to decent competition in later rounds (was * against Astana) and other big friendlies like with barca and Leicester, he takes a nose dive and plays terribly. Happy for him to be on the bench or start against shittier spfl teams, but we can do much better in terms of starting position.

 

could do with being a bit stronger and to dominate more, youve kinda got to do that as a celtic central midfielder if he doesnt shape up he'll be back out of the team toot sweet

 

He is still young. All young players have periods like this when they arent firing. Could be any number of reasons....including the new manager. Not that he doesnt like him or anything, but in life, some people dont react well to change and need time.

 

I like McGregor and I felt he was our best central midfielder last season, but he hasn't been at the races so far. Both he and Armstrong have had very little impact on the games.

 

Only really been impressed by him 2 years ago when he made that quality start at the start of Ronny's era. Cracker away to Legia then scoring in Maribor.

Not convinced at all, decent squad player but shouldn't be anywhere near our starting 11.

 

His best football for us was the post split fixtures last season . He has the ability to run games for us ; needs to find form.

 

We need someone better than him at the heart of our midfield. He is a squad player at best and would shine in another SPL and that's about it.

 

Playing like we know he can today. The ball for Rogic's goal was absolute class, as was his one when Sinclair made the run through the middle. Can be very creative.

Aye, he put in a good first half there, and what an absolute peach of a ball for Rogic.

What impressed me more though is his sharpness and quick pressing.

 

That's why he's 1 up on Armstrong everytime..

That's a few game's now where he's obviously been told to try something different at set piece's. Like how we're trying to mix it up..
