I'd like to see him in the team tomorrow.

The more goal threats we have on the pitch, the better.

I like him, think he makes the team better when he plays and we miss him when he doesn't....and I used to think he would never be good enough and end up at a Dundee/lower league team down South.

Came back from notts county with a good reputation, we then tried to play him out wide and off a striker.

Clearly better suited in the middle of the park. He isn't a ball winning midfieldier, but beside someone who is, he is a good talent.

Would much rather see us start with bitton/brown next to him than start with both brown and bitton who are too similar and constantly pass sideways and never push a game forward.

He is not a regular Scottish type of player. Which makes me think he'll have a fantastic career ahead of him internationally anyway.

Feel the same. Even if he was English and signed from the Championship we'd be talking about how long we can hold onto him.

We assume Scottish players are all of the same limitations and potential when it comes to attacking players. This lad is now our best midfielder and we should be looking to strengthen around him.

Spot on. He can beat people and spot a pass and has so much in his locker.

However all the criticism he had 12 months ago was spot on. He would play for weeks without taking a man on, sideways passes for the full game. A shitebag performance really.

He's looking so much better just now. He's more than capable of controlling a game. It depends on how much he wants it though.

Which is what happens when ye continually play a guy out of position I think. See Armstrong as another one.

Aye I agree. Never a winger in a million years

Once again it begs the question why he was so stubborn with that formation without any decent wingers

I think most of us were wrong on McGregor at some point. So many of us just thought he was * *.

Not all of us, most just knew he wasn't a winger or a second striker, the best football we played last year was when he was in our midfield

I don't remember ever thinking he was * to be honest. I questioned whether he had the capability of being a starter here at the very most but even then that was when Johansen was having his great season and Brown-Bitton had nailed down the deep midfield positions and I felt his best attributes weren't suited to being out wide.

Well, before November 2015, the general consensus was he wasn't good enough. In the past 8 months he's proven most people wrong. I did say most. Not all.

Although in february 2015 you said he probably just isn't good enough, so you were one of us :icon_mrgreen::bbpd:

Aye i thought he might not be good enough but he has turned it round when put in a position that suits him, and sadly it says more of where we are at that he is our best option in our midfield does it not

I read through a good bit of this thread there. It's interesting to see how he gradually won us over. Mr Monaghan took longer than most, but he even get him on board :smiley-laughing002:

That was the most frustrating thing about Ronny for me... It was clear McGregor and Armstrong weren't suited to playing wide and he constantly tried to shoehorn them into his never changing 4-2-3-1... Both can excel in a 4-3-3..

McGregor is the first midfielder on the team sheet for me and has been for some time..
