Callum McGregor

He is a central midfielder or could maybe be a poor mans alternative in the Stefan role. Folks are writing him off far to early. He is a useful member of the squad. He will have a good career, maybe not with us but we have him on a long term deal and there is plenty of time

 

Don't rate him either but he did a couple things he's not done properly in month's. Skinning 1 or 2 men and 'passing'..

 

good young player who will find form again , has all the right attributes to be a goalscoring midfielder. Gets wildly over criticized .

 

Major sigh when I seen him coming on.

He fills me with no confidence or excitement whatsoever.

What's the deal with Scepovic? Thought he'd have got on.

We were tipping this guy to be a serious POTY contender in August.

Whatever happened to the positive opinions on this guy, anyway?

If I remember correctly, he was playing in every match since the start of the season, playing well and he was scoring some goals.

It seems he's been totally written off and I've no idea what for.

 

Because he's done nothing since August.

 

After his good start, he went on a run of about 8 games where I actually didn't even realise he was on the pitch.

 

Still find it outrageous that this guy has managed 30+ appearances for us and we're only in February.

 

Big test for McGregor. Started off well and was looking promising. Since then, he's fallien badly out of form and subsequently out of the starting 11. Since then we've added to the squad, the challenge is now for McGregor to prove he's capable of being not just a part of the squad but worthy of first team football.

This situation has similarities to Watt, by this I mean what happens and in Watts case happened, on the field. Both have started/started off promising but when it came to being performing on a consistent basis, one failed to do so.

You often hear people say that breaking into the Celtic 1st team is the toughest thing for a young player. When it's more a case of being able to maintain performance and keep that place.

I'm not dismissing McGregor, just that he's now facing a much harder challenge than a couple of months ago.

 

I agree with a lot of that. Better than some of the negativity shown to a young lad

Full of early promise! Played half a dozen games, was fresh, looked exciting, now tho??
Totally fell away! Too much too quick looked impressive on loan at County last season but now looks like that WAS his level! Unfortunately looks like the new Paul McGowan, has a certain amount of talent but for me not enough to warrant playing time at Celtic! We have better players & better prospects than Calum primarily young Henderson!!
