The worst possible defence of a goalkeeper I have ever seen '* happens'.

'* happens' far too often in Europe with Gordon.

He almost single-handedly got us to the tie against Inter. He didn't have a good game against them. We didn't make the last 16.

    So what do we do?

Do we just accept that we all make mistakes and be grateful for his contribution that let us get to the game against Inter? Or do we just ignore all his prior excellent work and throw him under the bus.

    * happens... it happens to me... to you... to everyone... and yes, that includes even CG.

I was disappointed, but honestly had no problem with his iffy game against Inter. He was the one who got us in the position to play that game, so I cut him some slack.

Same goes for his recent (alleged) dip in form. I can still see what a good goalkeeper he is. I can still see that it's a terrible defence lined up in front of him. So in all the circumstances, I will continue to cut him some slack.

He made some spectacular saves in the Groups but he didn't singlehandedly take us to the knockout stages.

His shot stopping has always been good as are his reflexes and agility. It's his decision making and refusal to leave his line to either take a cross or a through ball which I find frustrating. I don't buy into that being because of the quality in front of him, they're not gluing him to his line.

He was the main reason we got through the group stages, other players did their part but he was our most important player by quite far during the group stage.

Any guy who willingly stands behind our defence is ok by me, don't envy the poor *.

A keeper will do 99 things right and will get a pat in the back at most. Then if he does one thing wrong he becomes a whipping boy for a week.

He is a great goalkeeper who, at times, makes the odd mistake, we are all human and we all make mistakes, he has proven to be the best goalkeeper that we could get at the moment. A lad who was the most expensive british goalkeeper a few years back.

My problem with Gordon is not his ability to make stunning saves or his general shot-stopping capabilities. It's his concentration and especially on set-pieces where he is nowhere near commanding enough. I mean as a goal-keeper anything in your 6 yard box should be yours, you CANNOT leave it to your defenders that close to your goal. Look at the Malmo game, at least 2 of the goals we conceded were in pretty much inside his 6 yard box or very close. Especially the last minute goal at home which ended up being a huge psychological blow as well as obviously making Malmos task in the second league a little easier.

Have to agree with that. Everything in the six yard box should be the goalkeepers.Time Logan Bailly was given a chance, as Gordon is now leaking goals hand over fist, and making the defence's job much harder.

Logan Bailly is a muppet, signed as back up and forever will be back up.

Bit harsh on Bailly eh ? The lad has hardly had a chance to show what he can do for us.
I remember Bailly playing for us in a friendly I think, he played well and saved a penalty too.
I don't remember Zaluska saving a penalty for us in his puff.

No doubt he played a big part but I almost feel as if sleekit Derek Rae is using that as a stick to beat us with. When he mentions it, 45 time's a game..

It's easier to blame the defence in front of him than the actual goalkeeper because suggesting that the goalkeeper is to blame for some of the goals we concede is indicating that Ronny isn't.

It's easy to say oh look the defence is pushed up too way or we're bad at defending set-pieces clearly Ronny's not organising them enough, where as our best goalkeeper making mistakes or not coming from crosses cannot really be Ronnys fault. And some people just cannot do anything but have a go at Ronny.

Bullshit, it's by far the biggest criticism of Martin O'Neill.

I take your point. And no doubt Gordon should not be in that team on his current dismal form. But Deila is crapping it as usual from dropping Gordon, which shows you he hasn't got the gumption to be a top flight manager.

Naw in this case I don't think so.If you don't give Bailly a chance you will never find out what he is capable of in a competitive game.Gordon has been letting in tiddlers both in Europe and the SPL, and Deila keeping an off form goalie between the sticks is sending the wrong signal to the rest of the squad, that no matter how bad you play I will keep playing you, abysmal management.

Remember Deila is the same guy who claims he loves Stokesy, yet never fucken plays him.

The guy is a fucken liar.

Or he sees someone who's doing everything right in training, putting in their all, and whom he's going to support through a bad spell as he sees him as a cornerstone of his young/developing defence...

    Ain't hypothetical tennis fun?...

Can't believe that save hasn't had a mention. Terrific stop..

Hopefully he's slowly recapturing his form of last season..

You seen with his reaction to it he knows his form has been sketchy.
