I concur with Zander, and you are one of the poster boys of stupidity.

    man your so pessimistic

start of the season and ronnys just in the door a month, the world cup has just finished

we dominated the game from start to finish they had one shot on goal

we had numerous chances young calum magreggor scored and gave us a victory

its early in the season and i think we all know we are short in creativity and maybe the striking position needs looked at but ffs you need to give the new coaching team a chance

it looks like your not gonna give the manager and coaches a chance mate :38:

Deflection or not......i love this young dude already. After seeing his goal compilation from last season, i was already excited to see how he'd perform for us.......and he isnt letting anyone down!
I love midfielders like him that have no fear of looking for a goal!

We had tons of chances tonight. On another day we win the game 4/5-0.

Would the same sour face gits still be moaning on here about the lack of speed and creativity, if that chances that hit the bar/post went in. Give the manager and players a chance, this was their FIRST competitive game.

We actually won!! That's the main thing.

one game playing out of position and you're already writing griffiths off as a european failure? He had a poor first half but was actually coming onto quite a good game when he was taken off and again he was being played as a right winger which is not his position.

Commons has been completely found out in Europe, he's one of the players holding us back not contributing to our success. I honestly can't remember him ever having a good game. The play at the European level, at least the group stages, is very quick and that doesn't suit Commons at all. He is incredibly unathletic and also slow to see a pass which is a horrible combination at the Champions League level.

Ronnie needs to sit commons down to tell him thats hes not good enough for the group stages no matter how many tap ins he scores in the spl

Commons will do well in the qualifiers as he has in the past but he will be useless in the groups as he normally .we need a younger more creative player with a bit of pace on him to succeed in the groups.

I dont think it would be fair to play him in the qualifiers and then not play in groups then have him playing week after week in the spl

So he should either accept the predicament or move on and we cash in

I think it was a pragmatic performance. It was an away win against a side that has a pretty good home advantage. Travelling to places like Iceland, Eastern Europe etc. is always tough and brings out an extra challenge. Celtic won the match and will advance to the next round easily. There was really no need to go the extra mile yesterday.

Like I said before, KR are good at home. Two years ago HJK won the first leg in Reykjavik 2-1, but then ended up winning 7-0 at home. KR is essentially a pub team and they will come to Scotland just to celebrate. No reason to slit your wrists thanks to this result.

Considering we have a budget which is more than 20 times that of st johnstone and motherwell, I wouldn't say we have performed much better than these sides. St Johnstone beating Rosenberg is pretty much their equivalent of beating Barcelona.

I said before the game that I'd take any sort of win this early on, IF Commons socred that wonderstrike early on then it'd probably be a different game.
They sat in well and we poked n prodded at their defence for the majority of the game.
We maybe should of tested their goalkeeper more as he seemed * poor, but I'm glad we got the win in the end and glad McGregor got on the scoresheet.

We definitely should be looking for more wingery type of players though if we are going to play this tactic Imo.

    :50: Well said

I watched the game last night and thought it was encouraging. Of course there was some ring rust but at the end of the day its our first competitive game of the season and we were playing in Iceland. I wouldn't expect the team to be operating at 100% or even close to it this early in the campaign.

There were encouraging signs. We hit the woodwork three times as the above poster said, we were playing a team half way through their season and we bossed the game. Remember, the manager is trying to get us playing different football and I think we done remarkably well considering we're playing a new system and have only been playing it for the past month.

I'm encouraged by it. I thought we had a bit more variety going forward. It was encouraging to see wide players like Izzy getting forward again and giving us a different option. At times last season we looked like we were struggling for options and it definitely wasn't the case last night.

A few more competitive games under our belt and we'd have finished more chances and connected with some more passes to give more opportunities.

I, for one, am happy with last night.

I'm quite content with last night. They set out for 0-0, and had almost everyone behind the ball, at all times during the game. The crucial away goal should mean that they have to try and come out a bit more next week, which should leave a lot more gaps. I think some people need a reality check if I'm honest, this was never going to be a walkover, and it was never going to be a fantastic performance in my opinion. It is our first competitive game back, and we are only about half way through pre-season.

On a different night, we might have come away with a few more goals to show for our efforts, but in the end, we did what we had to do and got the job done, which at this stage of the season, is all that matters. We went away from home in Europe, kept a clean sheet, and scored an away goal. It wasn't a delight to watch, but it's very early days. If we played like this half way through our season, I could understand people's concern, but it's not.

All you do is put an excessive amount of smilies after a post you disagree with as you are unable to properly debate. I can feel your hatred for me seething through the screen!! It's getting the better of you. Not my fault I sent you away greetin' last time.

Just calm down a bit okay, sweetheart?

what i enjoyed last night was the fact not once did the team panic and resort to long balls, they had a game plan and they stuck to it as frustrating as it was too watch at times, the players are set out to do a job and to stick to the job shows a lot or respect to the manager and the way he wants to play, we can only improve on that imo, and a few new faces added to the squad can also give everyone a lift.overall pretty pleased

My point is that with our current squad we have no chance of getting progressing much further or at least putting in a couple of decent European performances worthy of praise.

And you can say they were rusty and make excuses all you want. But they were playing the same tired football they did all last season. The only saving grace is that Ronny agrees with me when he said he was disappointed there was sideway passing for so much of the game. Most of the time only relying on Commons to create anything. That's no use for European football. We NEED, I repeat, NEED a decent striker who can cut it at a level a little above SPL level. No amount of coaching is going to make players like Griffiths and Stokes good enough to score goals against half decent European sides.

Fans willing to accept this standard of football and quality of players are doing the club an injustice and they don't even realise it.

He actually said he was very happy with the second half performance.

I won't comment on the quality of our strikers in Europe until they are tested by playing actually up front. For me, a good, solid holding player is a must for Europe, rather than a striker. I wouldn't mind if bringing Wanyama back(or someone of his quality) is the sole signing we make this summer, as long as nobody crucial leaves us.

I was referencing his comment of the sideway passing in first half in particular. I said exactly the same throughout the game so I'm please he at least noted it. Although large parts of the second half were the same. If it was Lennon he would have been absolutely delighted by the whole thing with not a single negative regarding the performance.

    At least that's something.

He also said there has to be a bigger improvement.
