Was last year our first season starting in 2nd round? I remember Cliftonville, Elfsborg, and Karagandy. The previous year I just remember Helsinki and Helsingborg.

I get excited for preseason friendlies all the time, but oddly have a hard time getting up for these 2nd round games. Can't put my finger on it.

Feel the gulf makes them pretty pointless, as competitive games go. Not that we're indestructible, but still. Possibly it's the anomaly of us being expected to walk it in a European game, and the niggling fear of a watching an Artmedia. Might say I feel more numb than anything.

When did Ambrose meet up with the squad? If it was anything over 3 days ago a want have a problem with him playing as he'd had plenty of time to rest from the long journey. But if just arrived yesterday then is thrown into the game it could be Juventus all over again.

I wouldn't start Ambrose. I would have Mulgrew in at centre half alongside Van Dijk.

That seems like the logical option to me as well.

I'd also go with the thumb and stokes up top.

Looking forward to this tonight but Ronny will have to break a vicious hoodoo,

Last 3 celtic managers have all lost their first game in Europe

    Strachan 5-0 to Bratislava
    Mowbray 1-0 to dynamo Moscow
    Lennon 3-0 to braga

C'mon Ronny you can do it !

I would like to see Pukki if I'm honest. He should be full of confidence from a very good pre season thus far, and I think he has earned a start. I wouldn't be overly fussed if it were Griffiths and Stokes though.

Ambrose had visa issues and couldn't get into Austria he was training with development squad and trained with first team on Sunday. That was only day he has spent with the squad.

I won't be overly concerned if we lose tonight, so long as it's not a freak hammering.

We more than have the capabilities to run roughshod over them in Edinburgh.

I'm not worried about this at all. You can't underestimate anyone in Europe but an * side that lost 9-1 on aggregate to HJK not too long ago and is sitting 3rd in the Icelandic league is about as easy as it gets at this level. We should be sailing through quite comfortably.

So you'd have Boyd before Stokes and Miller before Griffiths? Ok then.

John Collins was saying that Ambrose is looking very sharp and that the management are happy with him, so he'll probably start.

    Forster

    Lustig Ambrose van Dijk Izzaguire

    Kayal Johansen Mulgrew

    Pukki Commons Stokes

Hibs got leathered 10-0 or something last season too in Europe. Anything can really happen in these kind of games as we know very little about them, it's not as if we can go and get video to see how they play against good teams like us as they probably never face any and youd imagine play totally different against teams in their own League or other European diddy teams.
