It doesn't matter who they put up front if they keep passing it around at the back and losing possession. When they play more direct and get the ball up to Balotelli he looks dangerous.

Prandelli needs to put his principles to the side here and get the ball forward quicker. Italy won't win this game if they stick with the current gameplan.

This World Cup looks up for grabs for anyone really. Only Germany seem a good solid team, possibly Argentina.

All the other usual "top" teams Italy, France, Brazil, Netherlands arent that good. Chile look quite good as do Croatia. Uruguay, Belgium, Colombia are decent teams.

Kinda World Cup so far you wouldnt rule out a final of like Uruguay V Chile or something.

No doubt him, Chiles and the lot would be complaining if a Scottish pundit was doing last night's game donning a Uruguay top.

Fully deserved lead. Costa Rica are the surprise package so far. Most people including myself weren't expecting them or Australia to get even a point. But both have been excellent.

Savage is a hero when he said "England shouldn't be relying on other results, they've been poor all tournament, Costa Rica have been brilliant"

Yeh It's great to see them playing to win and not just making up the numbers. Australia-Netherlands was the game of the tournament so far IMO.

The English are so incredibly stupid/arrogant as usual..... I doubt they'd even * Costa Rica even if Italy get the result they need.

England should just accept they're no better than Japan, Ghana, Portugal, Mexico, USA and other teams who's limit is the last 16/quarter-finals of competitions! It's not your * given right to compete with nations like Italy, Brazil and Germany just because "we inverntid da football like!". Low expectations this tournament? Aye, that's why you thought you were at least equal to italy and better than Uruguay??? That's what everyone was saying before hand. Uruguay have a population of 3.5 million and still won more world cups than England, they weren't too far off winning the last one and yous still think with your young, average side that you'd easily beat Uruguay??? Do me a favour!

Also they're ratings of players is so skewed it's unreal, Rooney is not a Messi, Ronaldo, Suarez, etc level of player, he's basically around the same level as Podolski is for Germany, Benzema is for France or Tevez was for Juventus..... having Rooney as a number 10 or whatever on top form, still isn't good enough to win major honours. Ever since Rooney took over from Ronaldo at United they're no long competing for Champions League trophies and have fallen back, even before Moyes took over they were a level behind Real, Bayern and Barca..... because you don't win the very best trophies with Rooney as your best player. Also saying Gerrard was ever in the same league as Pirlo or Xavi is embarrassing, in England alone Keane, Vieira, Pires and Lamaprd have been closer to that category of midfield than he ever was. Their golden generation had a pretty good defence, but massively overrated everywhere else.

    * the lot of them, I know it may be petty, but I * LOVE IT when they get humiliated.

Even then we've only seen them once. It'll all become a bit clearer after the group stages I feel.

It really is hard to not be against England when they keep mentioning they need Italy to score for them every 30 seconds.

Pretty sure an England world cup win would be a massive swing to YES for independence because we'd never hear the end of it
