This is it. Our generation holds him in the same awe as the young guys hold Larsson who grew up watching him.

Exactly, the lad stood by us, kept giving his all, year after year, through one of our darkest periods, could've quite easily * off down south but no...a true Celtic great in my eyes, his and Granties reaction at the end of the '95 SCF shows everyone what Celtic means to him.

This is why he was loved. People should go along and sing this mans name for 90 minutes.

    Absolutely buzzing for his return.

Gotta say he was my favourite player as a young man and was a loyal and faithful servant to the club. Always felt it was a shame that he didnt stay with the club after he retired, would have been able to give so much to the younger players coming thru the ranks.

Great player, true professional and a Gent to boot. Can't remember any other pro give him grief.

I remember he wanted to date my cousin, but a girl from Larkhall with a serious blue nose father was not happening !!!

'Paul McStay was a player who defined a generation for Celtic fans during the bad days of the 1990’s and for that he will always have a place in our hearts. During that difficult time he was a constant beacon of light in a period of what seemed like total darkness and he represented everything that is good about Celtic and to which we hold dear. The ‘Maestro’ was a prince of a man, a total gentleman, a wonderful footballer and will forever more be remembered as an absolute Celtic legend.'

My idol growing up, a phenomenal player and servant.

He made his debut when I started going regularly and don't need to add to what's been said about how high this guy is in Celtic History.

More importantly as a man he was totally different from most footballers and seemed to have values and manners you rarely see today, very much an example to anyone as a man as well as a mere footballer.

I doubt I will be in Scotland for this game but if that changes. I will certainly be there to honour the great man :50:

    hopefully i can go...work permitting.

its a great insight to the player, im 25 and larsson was my hero, but to hear the admiration for the bloke is great!

Wish Rio would have a few seasons with us aswell mind!

Should be a great day out, too young to have seen Paul play in the flesh so really looking forward to it, even if he js a bit past it now.
Excited to find out who else will be playing as well.

Paul Mc Stay knocked back Juve in his early years, would have been the time they had Platini, Boniek, Bonini etc! Wanted to stay with Celtic. The Mc Stay family have given our club so much down the years! Hail Hail The Maestro!

Yep, not many realise how good he actually was, because he was in some awful Celtic teams. The guy was world class or close enough.

The fact he stayed all those years was really, really amazing.

Did he really knock Juve back?

Certainly when he threw his top into the jungle in 1992 an was for the off, the only two concrete offers that came in for him were Udinese and Blackburn - both newly promoted clubs. If a team of better calibre came in for him at that time then perhaps he would have rightly left us.
