It's tough at the moment. Eventually your EPL bubble will burst, like all bubbles. I don t know if it will happen in 2 years or 20 but burst it will.

Meanwhile we're hanging on in there as best we can.

Nope. What you say is ill-informed at best and trolling otherwise.

We have proved we do not need Rangers to be competitive, and as a fan I can honestly tell you I do not miss the bile that surrounded their previous existence. They deserved what they got and life has not changed negatively for me one bit.

Also you can compare our individual players as much as you like but the facts speak for themselves. We as a team have always performed better than the sum of our parts, and our achievements in Europe on a fraction of the budget of those we compete against prove that. The fact that your overpaid and overhyped team failed to gel and performed pretty miserable given the squad outlay just goes to show that money isn't everything.

Finally I think you need to grow up and learn some humility. Your nationality isn't the problem here, it is the fanatical, zealous worship of the EPL that you display. It blinds you to the fact that money has overinflated the ego of you and your team.

Go spend £9m one season and we'll see how your team does... Passing judgement on Celtic because our youth team was pumped by your first team in a meaningless friendly without our manager present is unbecoming.

Dude, they reached the QF in 2011. When was the last time we did that? They play in a league with Liverpool, Man Utd, Man City, Arsenal, Chelsea...all much bigger clubs than us (or Spurs), so CL qualification is incredibly hard (and would be for us too). Their team would comfortably beat us 8 times out of 10 if we meet in the Europa.

Spurs aren't some nothing English club bloated on the steroids of TV money and thinking they're more than they are (of which there are so many, I agree); they are a genuinely big club with a real history and deserve respect IMO.

He's arrogant, but he actually has something to be arrogant about.

    Oh yeah :icon_mrgreen:

I'm not doubting that their qualification isn't difficult in the first place. They are a big club but have won a lot less than Celtic, even whilst both leagues were more evenly matched. We do not rely on Rangers and never will.

My problem was not with him being a Spurs fan as I genuinely don't mind them as a club, but with putting Celtic down simply because we do not play in the EPL. Berating us for a lack of money and a poor performance from a third-string side against them is crass. Especially given the fact that Tottenham aren't the best performers themselves, despite having over 10 times our annual transfer budget and a wage outlay that dwarfs our own.

Claiming we are bigoted for challenging the arrogance is just stupid.

These pre season "glamour" friendlys are a joke, we know we have CL qualifiers and cant play a first team so why organise a friendly against one of the top English sides just to get a tanking, its embarrassing no matter who played in the side.

If you look on newsnow Celtic the game is being reported all round the world, and it looks bad on the club, we look like a wee diddy side now especially after last weeks result.

I * hate English football fans, using a game involving our youth team as an example of how * Scottish football is. They've never used a Celtic friendly win over an English team to say how good Scottish football is, funny that.

If we'd have played our full strength team the result would've been pretty similar.. Spurs have a far superior team to ours.

Who gives a flying * what anyone thinks of our game? There's a lot on here that don't rate our game either.

I know what you mean, mate. With a lot of English fans you'd be spot on; but Celtic are his second team and he meant well. He was speaking from a position of wanting to see us fulfill our potential, albeit that he'd like us to do that by joining the English league. He's not one of those English fans that underestimate our club, even if he does have an urealistic view of the EPL.

I was about to get all indignant about this and go off on a rant about the arrogant English media. It was virtually all youngsters with one, just one first team regular playing...then I remembered our first team just got dismantled by Legia Warsaw. :smiley-laughing002:

I'm glad I missed this match. I was out doing other things and was somewhat disappointed to miss the game. I then get home at about 7pm to check the score and felt quite chuffed to not have sat there for 90 minutes scathing at the computer screen.

This is embarassing. Friendly or not. Youth Team or not. This is CELTIC.

Hopefully Pistol Pete will stop signing yp to glamour friendlies in the middle of trying to qualify for the CL group stages .
Madness to sign up of a game at that time and send a second 11 out to be slaughtered . Wont do a lot for their confidence .

Also, did we not beat a Liverpool team containing a host of first teamers (even the mighty former England captain) last season, who then went on to challenge for the EPL. We had a youth team out as well, * even Balde scored, how bad are they. Does that mean we would have won the EPL last season? Naw. Does getting pumped off Spurs meaning anything now? Naw

Where was that spurs/Celtic fan to tell us how great we were then.

Can people please stop calling Spurs a big club

Newcastle and Sheffield Wednesday have won double the amount of league titles as them

Wolves, Huddersfield and Blackburn have won more

Spurs have won the same amount as Burnley and Preston

They have some European pedigree based on the Uefa Cup but are not considered big outside of England as nobody really gives a * about them
