    yep

on another note thee youths for 3 to 4 years have been bigged up but they dont get a look in 1st team wise

i don't understand that hope the name's were all aware of get used in the 1st team this year

also the development squads arent playing against high enough qualtiy in the youth leagues here in scotland they should be trying to play european youth teams as much as possible for get the scottish scene the quality aint challenging enough for them, maybe thats why they dont get into the 1st team ?

In a parallel universe Spurs have already been relegated.

That is an embarrassment. 4-1 to a polish side? 6-1 in a friendly?

Get Deila out before things get any worse.

You're right mate but the problem is they did have potential, we've just ruined it. There's a huge disconnect between the 1st team and the youths. We're meant to be playing the same system all the way through the club, but the youths all play fast tempo 433 with fluid movement, playing it out from the back, and a lot of passing and skill.

The 1st team for the last few years have been doing a *, slower version of Barca's side to side tiki taka bollocks. Then on top of that our youths don't get enough of a chance.

    So basically our youths:
    a) are taught 1 way until they're 18/19.
    b) get given a few token training sessions and bench appearance with the first team.
    c) learn a completely new different and worse style.
    d) are either left to rot on said bench or
    e) played in compltely the wrong position, like Twardzik at LB and McGeouch at RB or left mid.

    It's tragic.

Pretty sure he is at another club... Might even be Sporting Lisbon but he isn't at United any more. The thing they got right though was exposing young players to first team football one at a time alongside the experienced pros. Their fans also don't immediately jump on their back after a poor game and start saying all our younger players are * as many on here do.

Plus to be fair that Dundee United youth team came second one year in the U-19/U-20 league one season and it was Celtic who won it. Our youths are better at that level but then a 16 year old Gauld can break through there whilst we let all our guys stew until they are 22 before getting rid.

Well at least you have spurs to keep you going until the huns make it to the top league.

Here's hoping they die before then and then the rest of us can get on with supporting Celtic without having to read this drivel anymore.

    agree 100%

what has steven frail john kennedy stevie woods got that good quality european coaches havent is it scottishness or old pals act

i think our coaches should be high class at a club like celtic at least better than what we have

these development squads should be about skill technique and about making them 1st team players for the 1st team

it shouldnt be about winning trophies, the setup is all wrong success by these coaches it should be about getting these kids in the celtic 1st team not about winning trophies for the young squads

A marketing exercise, pure and simple. Proven by the fact Pukki was the poster boy.

The worst part of it is that the idea of using one system right through the youth system is to ensure that the players can play more than one position in that system to give them the best chance of becoming a good all round player in the first team. So McGeouch played both wide positions, plus a more accustomed attacking midfield role and as a box-to-box midfielder. Likewise Twardzik played DM, wide and in his usual box-tobox playmaking role.

Yet they then got used as full backs or wing backs which they'd never played before. No point in that at all.

You're thinking of Gauld. I'm talking about Robertson who just went to Hull in the EPL for £2.85 million.

We shouldn't be play friendlies ever again after the champions league qualifiers start, it's just an excuse for another team to hammer our youth team, pointless.
