Harry Brady said on the Celtic Underground podcast said that what happens is..

Deila says to the scouts/board what position he wants to get a player for, the scouts then identify 3 players within our budget, then Deila chooses who he thinks is the best from those 3 and it's over to Lawwell to negotiate.

Apparently when we signed Boyata, it was between him, Danny Wilson and someone else.

Except Deila's on record as saying he wanted Boyata after coming in last season, having seen him while he was at Man City (not in an official capacity, believe he was tailing Mancini?). We got Denayer because Boyata wasn't available.

Boyata was wanted at the get go. The scouts do present options, of course they do, Deila isn't incapable of bringing in his own guys.

For example, Berget. Don't think anyone would argue that wasn't down to Ronny.

 

Main problem I see now, is because the board have dillied and dallied, is if we sack Deila now and bring in a new management team and we still lose the league and cup, the new management team will take the rap for what is in fact Deila's mess.

That could put a lot of potential suitors off the job.

I believe the majority of players we've signed have definitely been what Ronny wanted (or close enough). Jozo, Erik, Boyata, GMS, Armstrong, Janko for example are all signings I believe Ronny definitely wanted and certainly weren't decided for him.

 

This oh but lawwell chooses all the players we bring in, is just another pathetic excuse from the Ronny brigade. I honestly have never witnessed a celtic manager who has had so many excuses ready made for him by gullible supporters.

Lawwell doesn't pick the players but Deila doesn't have free reign over the players he wants. No chance.

We signed Tonev and Wakaso, neither of them got a look in. You're not telling me Deila really wanted them?
