I was pleased with the change and performance but one thing did worry me. 4 4 2 meant Commons was played wide but he became anonymous.

Aye said that in the match thread, the pitch not ideal for Commons today. He would leave us exposed in a 4-4-2 against better opposition, would have payed GMS today.

But Commons is too important to leave out, he's been so influential in so many big games this season. Bitton is too good, I can only think I would replace Johansen. But even he had one of his better games. It's a tough one for Ronny. I mean personally I would want to start Allan and Commons in any formation.

You are right about the pitch though, it wasn't good for passing but Allan still put a great assist through for Griffiths and Bitton managed to bounce it about well.

Just get Brown back in the team , drop Johansen and start giving Allan more game time.

We need a battle hardened CB, a DM with quality and experience.

And a wide player who can play the 4-2-3-1 system, weighing in with goals.

Went with the 4-4-2 a deserves credit for that. With the narrow pitch & dodgy surface he definitely called it correctly. I think the media were rubbing their hands in the hope of a slip up here but we were very professional & they gave us no problems.

    When asked about league restructuring.

However, Parkhead boss Deila insisted that the status quo 12-team Premiership is the right format, and fears that increasing it would lead to tedious, meaningless matches.

Asked whether the current situation of teams playing each other four times a season in the current set-up makes the league stale, the Norwegian said: ‘I don’ t think so. I think it’s more important to have a fight all the time, whether it be relegation or winning the league.

‘It will get more people to the matches and games will be even better.

‘The worst that can happen if you have six teams at the bottom who have no chance at that level, and you have maybe two or three teams up who have a high level, then there’s going to be too big a difference in the matches and many of the games will never be interesting because they are just in the middle of the group.

‘It’s a tough decision. (But) I think the structure here is good.

Personally I would love a 16 team league. Get more quality players into Scottish football from abroad as well as giving the youth a chance to play against bigger Scottish sides. I think it'd also be refreshing to see different teams in different markets, not Dundee 3-4 times a year combined.

Won't make slight bit of difference to any of the points you've said above.
We won't get a better TV deal, the standard of football won't miraculously improve, so players won't come from abroad in some magical "That new SPFLPLFL looks brill, let's go there!" moment.
Youth does get a chance in Scottish football - it's just that the vast, vast majority of youth players bred in Scotland are poor - playing against us twice isn't going to make them better.

Scottish football is * due to the quality of player, managers and attendances and no amount of switching league numbers or playoff ideas is going to change that.

Norway has a 16-team league - not sure it helps and you get a lot more meaningless games, Ronny knows what he's talking about.

I actually like the structure of the Scottish premiership. 4 league games a season is not all that much, compare it with US sports where teams play series of 7 games against each other!

    :50:

Scottish football is pish because of our drink and fast food culture, along with pre-historic training methods.

A few of my mates are professionals playing abroad or in the Scottish leagues but I probably have a handful of others who could have easily made it but would rather have a beer or a smoke.

And your right most Scottish teams play alot of youth, and there is talent there, just not in bucket loads as we dont have the fitness driven culture of the Germans or Spanish. Most young guys in Scotland have a game on the Saturday morning and are on the bevvy by 7 on a Saturday night, posting instagrams with their Rolexes and bottles of Greygoose as if they've made it bigtime.

Shame really, as the talent is obviously there, its just not being utilised enough, by both the players themselves and by coaches and managers around Scotland.

    Think you're right here.

I wonder would it be better if the SFA set up a proper academy for footballers (or clubs could themselves) where the kids go live from 12 years old onwards say.
Stay at the academy, get a proper school education (GCSE or whatever it is these days - real qualifications), get fed the right things and are brought up in an environment that encourages competitiveness (i don't think it's ingrained in Scottish or UK culture to be driven to be the best - most people are mocked for displaying such traits when young), healthy living, fitness and intelligent thinking.
I'm sure this is what they did in France in the 80s and they won a World Cup!

We need to get the kids away from the bad influences, poor parenting and bad food - educate them, train them and give them the chance to do it properly.
If they are all boarding in the same place doing an eating the same things and being spurred on by each other and not their jakey mates "here have a toke on this".

Think you 2 are on to something. Especially the drinking culture we have in Scotland , you just need to go have a read of the recent thread on drinking to see people are very touchy about it and get defensive/sarcastic.
It is a problem and one that wont get better by doing nothing either.

Agree with all three of you there, drinking is a huge problem in the UK.
