So many fans grew up during the MON years and think that's the norm.

Even though I did as well I think you're right.

We've been spoiled under MON, Strachan and Lenny and it shows in how ruthless a lot of our fans are towards managers.

Something that interests me is how the board see Ronny's position. They will give him next years qualifiers but will they sack him immediately if we fail to qualify? I think it would be justified then but would mean starting from scratch.

Yeah that's definitely a reason, I grew up through the MON era but was always reminded about what the club went through when they won 9 in a row and we nearly went under.

Seems to be a section of supporters that are almost like EPL spoiled fans who expect us to over achieve every season in Europe.

Yeah it's a big risk to take, don't think they would sack him straight away maybe given until January but I think we will make the CL next season. If he is sacked then we start the whole cycle again going through transition etc.

I remember the old days when I'd have an * if Celtic got a corner, but some fans today expect Celtic to score goals. In fact some of them even expect Celtic to win games. Impudent pups the lot of them

If he doen't make the CL next year then maybe we should not sack him as we will have to start the whole cycle again and have a minimum of another two years after that without CL football

It's not a case of "that being the norm"
    They are just deluded.

I grew up in the Jock Stein era, so surely have more right to be upset.

I agree - it's easy to just blame the manager but we are limited in what we can achieve with the finances (& hence level of player) at our disposal.
At the end of the day, I don't know that anyone else could do any better with what we have at our disposal - this manager is a good COACH - the names being bandied about have done nothing with more financial resources. What good is having a check-book manager when the checking account is empty?
Moyes - total failure at RS and Man U? Enough said. Decent mid-table manager at Everton but is that what we want? What makes anyone believe that he can lead us to success in Europe?
Keane? Don't make me f'in laugh - a barrow load of money at Sunderland and was abysmal. Ipswich? Shining testament to his abilities there also - Does anyone really believe this guy is a motivator?
Ronnie at least has the ability to develop players - look at KT and especially Griff as good examples of that. Biton is another who has blossomed under his direction.
If we can identify better players within our budget, things are a whole lot different.

We have more finances than Malmo, FC Astana, BATE, Zagreb and Tel Aviv. Probably Gent as well so lack of money should not be an excuse

Fully agree, one of the main things is that we are restricted by the league we play in. There's only a few managers names that have been mentioned that sounded affordable and good enough.

In hindsight it may of been better having Ronny in as an assistant manager for a few seasons under a more experienced coach like Strachan for example, he was really thrown in the deep end when he came here. We can't afford to buy the finished article of a player of European quality, same goes for a manager.

No but one poster blamed out limited finances so it doesn't hold us back either

Do you really not get it? If employing a "cheap" manager is costing us £20m a year, then we can't afford NOT to employ an expensive one.

As I have already said an experienced manager near the end of his career. A managerial equivalent of Roy/ Robbie Keane.
Somebody who in his prime would have been beyond our reach, but still has a few seasons left in him.
