11 million in that league is ridiculous money. Especially then.

I think the football will be * and the signings will be *. We will replace signings like Van Dijk and Wanyama with * championship players.

Yes because he is a train wreck waiting to happen. We appear to have a united squad who gets on well. Mix that with a hard nut with no man management skills and I think you know what the outcome would be.

Might be that the first year would be masked by Celtics overall dominance in Scottish football terms but I don't envisage that the team would flourish in Europe, nor would his name attract any better players into the side.

All in all I would prefer someone else.

Like he took over a team that was in a bit of trouble and won the league. Then in his next season he panic bought average players but still managed to keep them up (15th) and then resigned in his next season when they were around 17th. I wouldn't call his time at Sunderland a failure. He just ran out of ideas once he ended up with the big boys.

I'm not saying Keane would be the perfect option but he wouldn't (in my opinion) be the disastrous option I initially feared he would be.

He only spent a net £5m though. It's not that much. Credit where credit's due he did a very good job to win that league.

    No

Of the candidates touted he's the only one that got my interest.

Bit of a 'box-office' appointment and undoubtedly a risk, but what the * were people expecting?

    Mourinho?

I'm interested to see if he has learned anything from his previous appointments. It's quite a big risk if we appoint him, although I suppose he would have to be a complete and utter diddy not to win the league. Europe is where he will no doubt be judged, whether he is good enough to guide us through the qualifiers who knows. I also don't know what kind of football he plays?

I'm mainly worried about how he will deal in he transfer market. I hope to * he continues down the road of signing young players and doesnt go shopping in the prem for average journeyman players. Also have a few concerns over how he will operate in the dressing room, obviously well known for his bust ups with fellow teammates and players over the years. Having the whole squad behind him is obviously crucial and will be harder to achieve considering this is literally all Lennon's side.

I was kind of hoping for us to come away from this 'Celtic Man' nonsense. When Lawell was interviewed the other day on SSN, he was asked what makes Keane a good candidate. He replied with "Big name, Celtic fan and a good guy". Obviously they have judged him on more than that...haven't they?:smiley-laughing002: I feel that now is the perfect time to experiment with a foreign gaffer.

Ofcourse he still hasn't been appointed and I am talking as if he has, but I have a feeling it is only a matter of time.

To sum up yes I am a bit worried about his appointment but I also feel a strange sense of excitment, it is Roy Keane afterall you never know what the man is capable of.

    Yes

My 2p....I'll be devastated if he is appointed for a lot of the reasons already stated. But will also back him if he is, hopefully he can be a success. Have my doubts though.

I have visions of Ambrose losing the ball during one his runs from the back and Keane tearing right through him. That's the kind of character and manager he is and what I mean about him being detrimental to the team and the team's morale. It's all very well and good being a no nonsense manager, but there has to be a degree of patience with players in that respect and that's something I believe Keane greatly lacks. I think everyone would agree that even with their fantastic performances last season, there were periods when watching the likes of Izzy, Ambrose, Stokes and at times with Forrest and a couple of others was quite frustrating when they were barely getting out of 2nd gear in games. It takes some perseverance with these players through a few games before they reach their level again and play with confidence and belief. My question on this matter is, does Roy Keane as a manager have that kind of patience in him to allow for players to find their feet over a period of games when their not at the top of their game? Or would he be the kind to make radical changes if players go through the inevitable slumps during a couple of games in the season which some of ours do, thus upsetting the balance of the team and some players' attitudes/egos/mindsets or whatever you want to call it. For me it would be the latter. He doesn't strike me as being the patient type in any way.

We should also be looking to expand on our current style of football and for me, Keane will only worsen it.

I know he still deserves credit but I wouldn't say he did a very good job. A net spend of 5 mil doesn't seem that much but most other teams would be lucky to spend a few million, regardless of who they sold.

Birmingham who came 2nd spent £13.75m but lost £23.7m worth of players and Wolves who came 5th spent £1.5m but received over £7m in transfers.

Sunderland are a massive club in Championship terms and probably still got near 40,000 attendances. Them, Birmingham and West Brom were just yo-yo clubs at this time.....it's not like Coyle getting Burnley promoted or Holloway getting Blackpool promoted, both on a tiny budget......and I wouldn't want them here either.

His disastrous Ipswich reign and managing style/personality mean I would consider this a massive risk, and one which I wouldn't be happy taking.

I understand totally where you're coming from. I just feel that Keane would bring certain possitives that wouldn't come with Coyle. I don't think he'd be the least bit scared to stand up to Lawwell if he felt he wasn't being backed enough etc. He also wouldn't be at all shy in the media.

For the record, I voted Yes in the poll.

The people here not wanting him whinge and moan and yap the loudest and talk endless piles of *. Included in their number is the same type of eejit that wanted rid of Lennon.

I hope Keane gets the job and am optimistic he'll be a huge success.

Have to say one redeeming factor for Keane in my eyes was the fact that he hates Shearer and tried to hook him on the pitch :56: but that's about it, unfortunately. If he gets it though I look forward to him using the death stare on a few fourth officials and opposite managers next season.
