It is now becoming more and more likely that Roy Keane will be appointed as Celtic Manager. Would you be disappointed?

To speak freely I personally would be very disappointed if Keane were to be appointed as manager.

I wouldn't be, no. The options we have at the present time aren't the best, so Keane is certainly no worse than any of the other frontrunners.

No, we're only going to get this type of manager anyway. The best manager we could probably get would be Malky Mackay but its not like top teams would be fighting over him.

The Celtic job doesnt really pay enough and is a big risk to good managers. If Moyes for example was appointed and got knocked out the CL qualifiers(which is a good possibility every now and again we are going to get knocked out in the qualifiers) he'd become a laughing stock and his reputation would probably be ruined unless he went on to win the Treble and even if he did it probably wouldnt count for much to English fans. Same for a lot of managers.

There is no real benefit to managing Celtic to progress you're career.

If It's keane, board have thought big name, Celtic connection. Ludicrous and shows we are in the wrong hands to be a progressive and forward thinking club.
Been hankering for Lennon to leave/be replaced for quite some time as i always thought he would never be able to install a football style that appealed.
To now get ourselves in this great position, plenty cash, a number of good players, a decent youth set with some promising players, almost stick on to win the league and prospect of CL campaigns to come and try to improve in that front.
Absolutely crying out for a a different approach and bring in coaches that will have vision and a philosophy and give the fans a brand of football to be proud of. For that you generally need to look in Europe or even south America. We are not gonnae win the CL but if we were coached and encouraged to play with more style and adventure it would be far more pleasing to win by playing a great/famous side off the park than scrambling a win anyway way we can . I'd rather take that route which may increase the risk of getting a doing ourselves but any achievements we got would be far more satisfying.
It's like a * cheesy American box office movie, no originality from this crew and if thinking bringing in Roy Keane cause he is a big name is gonnae 'put bums on seats' they are deluded. A shift in the way we are coached and play is what will bring back the numbers.
What is the vision from this board? Ten in a * row * perhaps? What is the risk from looking in Europe? bringing in Roy Keane is far far more riskier and I have serious doubts its for the best.

Couldn't agree more. I just feel Roy Keane will not take the club forward in terms of style of play and youth setup etc. He won't really gain respect from the players either.

    Who would though?

The Celtic job in reality is a tough job that not many will be interested in. If the job was that good people would be queing up to take it but they're not, it offers more risk than reward.

What managers are out there thinking "That Celtic job looks great, low wages, small budget, fans demanding a Treble and Champions League qualification" :56:

Fair enough but surely we can look elsewhere without this "Celtic man" policy. I'm sure there are good managers out there wanting the job. What about Garcia for example.

He has a horrible attitude. The insults he has dished out to both players and managers is cringe-worthy. I don't want someone with his kind of mouth at our club. It would bring us down.

I trust him as long as he's not signing the players and John Park is picking the players to do so. I would rather a * load of other names though.

    What has he done though?

Brighton were 4th in 2013, he got them to 6th in 2014. He done alright but I dont see whats that special about him. Brighton are no better now than they were a year ago before he took over.

    Very.

There is very little in his career so far that suggests he would be successful here.

I would go a step further and say his volatile personality and abysmal transfer record risks upsetting a lot of the progress we've made in recent years.

This is a bullshit poll and a bullshit thread that will be full of negative whingeing bullshit. Why is the question regarding Keane's appointment phrased in a negative way by saying will you be disappointed if Keane is appointed as opposed to would you be happy if Keane is appointed. The way it's phrased invites all the usual guff from the usual malcontents. I'm happy Keane looks to be the next manager as opposed to the others that were linked with the job.

This. He has a stupid habit of signing players who are mostly quit old and not really developing young talent.

Low wages for who exactly? Guess your talking British based? That's exactly who we should be avoiding. If you want to compare with the English what top progressing teams have a Britishcoach? They all look to Europe with the exception of Brendan Rodgers who is an exception with football ideas. Good coaches from Europe would be intereted (not talking about the big well known ones at the top clubs) and some have shown interest. Why do you think we can attract some of the players we have recruited in recent years?
Telling you see when we were under pressure chasing the tails of the deceased to stop 10, the bunnet had vision tommy burns. Win Jansen, Dr Jo, and all the great flair players that were brought in too. Wish we had that again.

Brighton were almost relegated a couple of seasons ago. In Garcia's first season he almost took them to the premier league. Considering Brighton are quite a small club that is pretty good achievement. He has changed the football Brighton play more of passing game rather than hoof ball.

I think you're looking back with green tinted glasses to be honest mate. Both Jansen and Venglos were met with indifference initially, with Venglos being outright ridiculed in many quarters.

I'd be disappointed but he's not the worst option. I'd much rather Garcia, Laudrup or Clarke.

Not my first choice by any means - want us to broaden our horizons and get away from a British manager. That said give me Keane over Coyle/McNamara/MacKay etc any day.

Another thing with getting a european coach in, they would know and attract even more of these hidden gems that that would not only appease the board (future profits!) But also us - the fans
