Ah Peter Lawwell, where to start?

When we lost to Ross County in the SC I said at the time that Lawwell had taken us from Seville to Ross County in no time.
All this chatter from him about our GLOBAL BRAND,is a * laugh, when he took over you would see many people wearing Hoops any day of the week in nearly every major city in the US,those days are long gone.

And another thing, all this talk about Lawwell and his "balance book",it wasn't him who balanced the books,it was the Celtic support that stuck by our club while the post MON downsizing was going on.

And before I forget, when our team was crying out for a striker like Fletcher not only did we get Willo Flood but it allowed the huns 3 years of CL money and 3 more years to survive.......No freaking way did WGS ask for Gravesen/Du Wie/Keane or Mizuno,or did any other manager ask for Cha/Juninho/Cheng or Freddie-----FFS Mowbray was in the door 5 mins and Peter was in Korea signing Ki with all the fanfare.

The man has lived off the backs and emotions of the Celtic Support, make no doubt about that, just my opinion.

    Spot on :50:

Peter Lawwell is doing nothing more than ensuring that Celtic live within its means. As instructed by our majority shareholder.

If Desmond isn`t prepared to put even a fraction of his massive wealth into Celtic then nothing will change. And nor should it because we could get into trouble very easily.

Even if Desmond did punt £100 million into Celtic it would be no guarantee of European success anyway. The unfortunate conclusion is that the way Celtic is run now is the only sensible option.

The fans have a role to play as well. If we want more success in Europe for instance, we need to put our money in and turn up for games. Look at all the empty seats over the past couple of seasons.

we got to the last 16 of the champions league last year ,made shitloads of money and instead of trying to improve the team we sold our best players .only got in this year by the skin of our teeth against 3 truly awful teams then flopped in europe and it looks like we are going to try this idiotic strategy again .
how can anybody be pleased with the performance of any of the board if this sort of * was going on at ibrox we would be laughing at them.

Aye, he is the fall guy - but he is paid handsomely for it.

The guy earns a basica wage of £19k a week that is more than any manager bar MON has earned. He must be our 2nd maybe 3rd highest earner at the club to be honest.

That's it exactly. He is paid well to be the face of the PLC. He gets the flak, but that's part of his job.

Yea i understand, and he does deserve criticisim, but the trouble is some celtic fans take what he and others say as the truth the whole truth and nothing but the truth, some fans are easily taken in.

And some act like he is the devil incarnate. As though everything that comes out his mouth is lies, lies and more lies.

He is always going to divide opinion.

To be honest, until this thread I had never even thought about DD. I imagine many others will be the same.

You often forget about shareholders and BIG shareholders such as Dermot Desmond will have a massive say.

I wonder just how much is down to him.

he's not that rich compared to other big club owners BUT your right about him being a bit tight with his money. I just read the financial fair play rules and apparently club owners can invest their own money into the transfer fee for any player and have no financial repercussions. Apparently its quite common. I can't find the article I was reading it on though.

Every thread he is on he is sticking it to Peter Lawwell.

We could get a new Chief Exec in and he would hate him as well.

These guys are getting paid more than those supposedly 'running the country'. If I feel the need to criticise him ( * help me if the board hand the job to coyle ) then I will.

And there lies the problem, for if DD were the owner then he could in fact spend as much as he wanted as long as it was under this new FFP rules, however DD is the majority share holder of a PLC not the owner.

I had this debate on another forum a few years ago over DD paying Roy,s or Robbies wages and I found out that a shareholder within a PLC is allowed one "gift" to that PLC in his/her life time, and if my memory serves me right its a rather small number.

It makes sense for it was because of rich people starting up companies then pouring money into said companies to inflate the share price then sell that started The Great Depression.

So no,DD cant pour millions into our club.
