    Yeah, definitely.

No disrespect to them, but I doubt they have many players that would be first team players here.

He has played a 15 year old midfielder 5 times who looks a great prospect on youtube.

After reading up on his stint at Godset I'm very excited for this. Could be just what the doctor ordered.

Holy moly... Lokomotiv Moscow pumped his team 15 - 0 in February. Just a friendly though.

Ok not 100% mate was just making a point but the vast majority did,and if you look back the Lennon roadshow was actually needed from the board's perspective,we had just suffered a disastrous season and Lawwell had to go all-out to convince the supporters it was a blip and we were on the up,because as you know it's us supporters who solely fund Celtic and there's nothing more important to the board than the sales of those 40k season tickets.

Two things we should learn from the last couple of weeks.......

1/ Don't believe any of the * "exclusives" we read in the papers.

2/ Never trust a bookies favourite.

Again, that's my point. I don't blindly accept what the media reports, and likewise I don't blindly follow everything that comes out of Peter Lawwell's mouth. Maybe you think that makes me a cynic, fair enough- I say it's being more of a realist. I don't form my opinion based on a hurried statement from the club, particularly when that statement is in complete contrast to the apparent club policy of silence on any speculation regarding potential signings and managerial appointments- I won't blindly accept that as fact.

I think I've followed Celtic for long enough to realize that Dermot Desmond has a large say in who the Celtic manager is, and probably doesn't have the time to waste interviewing '5 to 10 candidates' (still none the wiser what that actually means!). Likewise, I can't imagine Ronny Deila, from Norwegian club Stormsgodset, would have been at the top of Lawwell's and/or Desmond's list, again I'd say that's just being realistic all things considered.

You may feel your opinion is 'common sense', with respect I'd say it's rather naive. The comments and conduct of Peter Lawwell in recent years, as well as having a mentality of always questioning and scrutinizing those/businessmen in positions of authority/power, I think it's reasonable to take Lawwell's comments with a large pinch of salt.

I think Larsson and Keane were offered the job. I think they knocked it back. I think Celtic/Lawwell broke apparent club policy in an exercise of trying to save a bit of face. I don't think Ronny Deila was Celtic's first choice. I'm not saying that's a bad thing. Now I can't understand how anyone could find that 'complex' or a 'soap opera', I just think it's more realistic than accepting the word of wheeler-dealer businessmen! But, at the end of the day, it's all speculation!

So first you take our best player.

Then you take our best ever manager.

    *! :smiley-laughing002:

No, seriously just wanted to congratulate you on making a very good appointment on your next manager! Credit to your board aswell for making a bould decision.

Im so glad Ronny is getting this opportunity. What he has achieved and done for Strømsgodset is beyond belief really. He made me see the league trophy paraded at Marienlyst like my father did 43 years ago. Something that during my previous 25 years of supporting them seemed utter impossible. I love this guy!

To those in here being sceptical you should consider that Deila achieved the transformation of Strømsgodset without spending money on players, this in a league where other clubs spend heavily and way out of their means. Molde even bought one player while he was performing well on loan at Godset. Godset unable to even begin to match Moldes offer had to see star performer of the first half of the season Jo Inge Berget play the second part for their rivals. This is what Ronny Deila has been doing all the time though, bringing in young players or players not succeeding elsewhere and improving them. Giving them belief and an safe environment where you are allowed to make mistakes. Every season some of these players have become "to big" for Godset and moved on, every season Strømsgodset have improved. This actually looks like the first time in the last 7 years we are taking a small step back, that is losing Stefan Johansen to you :smiley-laughing002:

I could praise Ronny for hours, if he doesn't excite you he should. All the articles on this are correct, the Awesomeness of Ronny Deila, the ESPN one.. its all spot on.

There are no certainties in football though..you never know.. But with Ronny at least there is a possbility that things could get, well just awesome :86:

Thank you so much for what you have done to Strømsgodset Ronny! Wish you the best of luck and much success at this fantastic club you are taking over!

PS! Have been following this thread since the rumours started yesterday, had a laugh when I saw the "Does he speak English?" question :smiley-laughing002:

Have to say Deila seems to be a good choice. I was hoping for a non Celtic related appointment.

He looks like a strict, disciplined coach who'll do well working with youth and plays a passing attacking style. Aldo I believe he'll have good knowledge of bargain signings from Norway/Scandinavia.

Definitely didn't see this coming and always had the likes of Mackay or Clarke/Garcia as my preferred but I believe this guy will be a breath of fresh air at CP.

Hope he takes us to group stages, that will be his test.

Great to read the thoughts of a Stromsgodset fan. Deila sounds like a very good appointment at this stage, Can't wait to see how his team pans out.

Welcome to the forum mate and thank for the info. I think the majority of fans here and very excited but a little cautious of his appointment, hoping he will produce the goods, but yes...very excited.

Sorry for taking your star performer and now manager, but..... who else can we take? Any youngsters your expecting big things from? :smiley-laughing002:

Welcome mate, thanks for your informative post, if I'm honest I knew nothing about this guy so its good to hear the views of someone who knows all about him. The more I hear about this man, the more I like him, hopefully he will bring us the success that he brought you.
