I think Celtic have offered the job to at least two candidates- Larsson and Keane- and both have knocked it back. The statement released on the Celtic website and its timing the other week was absolutely bizarre, as was Peter Lawwell's comments about having between '5 and 10 candidates' (whatever that's meant to mean!). I think both the statement together Lawwell's comments was an exercise in trying to save face, over the fact that two high profile candidates have knocked back the job. What they should do is shut up and wait until a manger has been appointed before making an announcement, that seems to be their policy when signing players and seems the best option to me.

I think Keane was given an ultimatum. If he wanted to be our manager, then he had to leave his post with Ireland. I don't think he wanted to do that, so we moved on. I honestly think if he agreed to that, he would already be our manager.

Thankfully, whatever went on, he won't be here in any capacity. Delighted about that in all honesty.

Roy Keane is on the verge of taking over at Celtic - with an appointment expected in the next 72 hours.
The 42-year-old was in the dugout for tonight's heartening 0-0 draw with Italy in Craven Cottage.
But it now appears certain that it was the assistant manager's last involvement with the Republic of Ireland squad.
Ireland boss Martin O'Neill tonight refused to confirm that Keane was moving to the Scottish champions.
But he appeared resigned to losing his right-hand man and said: "I assume something will be resolved by the time we fly to America (on Wednesday morning).
Asked if he wanted the issue resolved quickly, O'Neill said: "I'm pretty easy about it. I think it will be. It's not a case of what I want. I think it will be."

What if deila was thier main target and didn't want other clubs sniffing round.
It would not be about how much you need to pay his club but more worried about some other club coming in and offering better deal.
The less choices someone has the better you're chance of a yes answer.
You want a smoke screen just slip a list to the media and they do the work for you....easy as that.
Bit strange MON let it be known keane was talking to celtic and he turned us down but nothing was said about villa.

They weren't bizarre, though. MON put us in a spot by leaking the Keane thing. Because no one else had been leaked and they had nothing else to feed on, the media went crazy, as did we if we're honest. It was damage control IMO and I see no evidence that we ever offered Keane the job. Even he never claimed we did, he said he no longer wished to be considered.

It's not strange at all. Keane would have had to give up the Ireland job to come here. MON knew exactly what he was doing.

You are quite right, we won't know, and we can only speculate. But as I said, looking at the quotes and conduct of people like Larsson, Keane, O'Neill, the FAI etc, as well as the bizarre statement and its timing from Celtic and Lawwell, I think someone could be forgiven for joining up the dots and coming to the conclusion that Ronny Deila from Stromsgodset might not have been Peter Lawwell's and Dermot Desond's first choice, despite what they might try and spin at a later date.

I believe this 100 per cent.
Not a doubt in my mind, now I have no doubt Ronny will take over as third choice but I hope and think he will be a good choice.

As I said, I don't buy it. I'm not too clued up on Deila, and maybe I'm wrong, but I can't imagine Celtic would face much competition from other clubs for his services. And even if that was the case, I would imagine Celtic would spend time and effort negotiating with Deila and his club as quickly as possible, rather than concocting an elaborate ruse with Larsson, O'Neill, Keane, the FAI and others.

Come on now, they were utterly bizarre statements, as was the timing. Celtic did not have to make a statement at all- they don't do it when there is speculation surrounding a potential new signing, they didn't have to do it last week.

I think the club got a lukewarm reaction from Keane when he was offered the job, and fearing he would reject it quickly scrambled a statement on the website, and forced Lawwell into making a ridiculous comment about '5 to 10 candidates'(?!) in order to try and save a bit of face, particularly after it has appeared Larsson knocked the job back as well.

The statement from FAI was that Keane had "asked" not to be considered further for the position after tentative talks. Larsson has stated all along he is contracted to another football club. So where exactly apart from certain peoples imaginations did anyone get offered the job???
To snub, turn down or refuse the job, ypou have to be offered it first"!!!
The Daily Rangers as usual today headlines the Hunt for Norwegian boss after snub form Larsson and Keane.
When the * did anyone (especially real CFC Supporters) start believing the DR.

The board as usual are on a hiding to nothing no matter whos appointed and all generated by the Scottish Press. And you wonder why we ban some of these cretins from Celtic Park for turning our own against our own??

Keane snubbed Celtic... absolute bollocks. Uber bollocks. Bollocks on an intergalactic level.

Keane was already out the door of the FAI for * sake, he took himself out of the running when it was made clear that we were considering him, and not flat out offering him the job, so he scuttled back to MON with his tail between his legs in order to protect his fat * head.

Some of the * that gets posted on here is just flabbergasting.

When Delia name first appeared on the betting what I also noticed was Peter Houston name had also come in alot in the betting,
Just wondering if the bookies had heard whispers about Peter Houston but infact the talks were about his role in the new management team with Ronny Deila??

    It's nonsense.

Celtic spoke to Keane and when they told him what the transfer budget would be like he said he didn't want to be considered. He turned it down and decided to stay with Ireland and wait for an offer from the EPL or the Championship.

Larsson is another guy with a strong independent mind, he might take it in a few years maybe.
