I agree. As I said to Slaw, I thought we played passing, attacking football most of the season. I'm not criticising the team or the style. More this mindset of 'we need xx because he gets us'.

Exactly. Or was Wim Jansen fae Shettleston...?

We just need a * good manager. Play intelligent football. exactly the typ of game that I personally couldn't.

What im saying is a man like mackay knows whats celtic all about, the kind of pressure and what is expected from him and the club, Lennon knew how celtic and the fans worked. I cant help but think that deila would be a big gamble

To my mind, the nearest I've seen to "the Celtic way" in the modern game (and it really pains me to say this) is Man Utd in certain periods under Fergie.

I think the board knew Lennon was going for a while (maybe since Mjallby) and have waited far too long to appoint a replacement. Qualifying for the CL is paramount yet the new manager has only 6 weeks(??) to prepare for the first match, he won't even see players like Izzy,Efe and Forster till 2 weeks before that.

And what if he wants to dramatically change the style of play?? Like Deila or Garcia It's not something that happens overnight.

I thought we were poorly prepared last season, IIRC we had friendlies Vs Liverpool and 1 in Germany days before we had to travel.

This season we are going to Austria then away in the CL a few days later then off to Germany days before another CL game. Then it's Spurs in Helsinki before we play the return. It all comes across as a half-arsed job.

This is a very fair point. I think we have to be patient and back the manager if he doesn't qualify. It's definitely a real possibility, especially at Murrayfield.

Just give it to Henke and Lubo and be * done with it.

We would get another ten thousand season tickets and would sail through the CL qualifiers on a wave of positivity.

    No brainer.

ive heard of him before. It was kid of a big upset that strömsgodset won the league with a very small budget and all that. BUt thats the only club he has ever managed. Its a small club from a small town.

I would like Deila to get the job because I think he would try to play 'the Celtic way' :50:

Probably due to Fergie's tutelage under Stein. He credits him a lot i'm sure.

What exactly has "knowing what Celtic's about" got to do with it?

    Dalgleish

    Macari

    Mowbray

Don't get me wrong if the best manger for the job is a celtic man, then fine. Otherwise I don't get this thinking, so very very narrow minded.

How many successful managers are associated to their club before they got the job?

You hire the best man for the job, period. :shamrock:
